Whatever you call it...

How do you make yours!?

OBVIOUSLY bread and cheese and toast it..

Do you toast both sides?
Or one?
Or as i read...not at all!??? Just bread and cheese melted!?

Do you butter it!!!?

Mum adds tomatos or HP sauce or pepper...dad adds branston pickle
Or relish yuck!! Im plain me!

And what cheese do you use?
What bread!?

White pan bread toasted on one side then turned, buttered and cheese laid on, under toaster till melted then spread and peppered - and its toast on cheese, none of that roasted/toasted nonsense!! No 1 son like a slice of ham under the cheese and OH likes some onion sliced on.
Question Author
Ive never ever buttered it!!!! Must try it!!

Annie its ROASTED lol ;0> xxxxx
nope, it's not!!! - you from the west of the country?
I call it melted cheese on toast and it HAS to have onion and mushroom don't you think?
Question Author
I sure am annie lol!!

Never had it with mushroom pirate! X
Toast one side of wholemeal
lay sliced or grated mature cheddar on untoasted side, no butter.
sometimes thinly slice a shallot and put on top, whack it back under the grill,
when its nicely bubbling..take out and sprinkle cress on the top. mmmmmm

The one I made earlier was beaut Tinks...if you lived nearer I'd have brought
you one over!! ;-) xx
Yummy, cheese on toast! I toast the bread slightly in the toaster, then top with grated cheese and pop it under the grill until it's bubbling.
Ahh I guessed that - I am from Edinburgh originally and now live in Stirling where East meets West and arguments around roasted/toasted cheese prevail :o)

I would have devoured it chi!!!!
Yummmm

Must have some tomorrow with cathedral i think. Grilled till browish- usually white bread but i fancy brown Xx
oops - double Gloucester cheese :o)
^^forgot..eaten with a bunch of grapes....sweet and sour.
Because I am a slob male who lives on his own I toast the bread in the toaster, slam some grated cheese on one slice, put the other slice on top then bung in the microwave for 30 secs. Maybe not ideal haute cuisine, but it suits me.
It's got to be the strongest Cheddar you can find, and then sprinkle Worcester sauce over the top before grilling.

I love extra extra mature cheddar- yummy.

Ill have to make some. Xx
Having lived in both places, I only ever hear it called roasted cheese in Scotland (which strictly speaking means you do it in the oven....)
doorstep bbread lightly toasted both sides

buttered.. thinly sliced onion and tomatoes on the bread and a mix of grated cheddar (strong) double gloucester and mozzarella... served with beetroot chutney
anything that melts from cheddar to emmenthal, even a wensleydale can be delish.

bread, what evers going that has a crust - ciabatta works brilliantly as you can add the toppings from roasted cherry toms to sautéed mushrooms or onions.

fresh ground black pepper, coarse grind for me, and if there is any chilli or chipotle going, bang that on for some bang.

You need to get out and about tinks, what is happening on the job front by the way, any news there?
That sounds great rowan, but without the beetroot.
Question Author

long ciabatta rolls by the way, split them in half and they have a natural cavity.

Hopefully some positive news soon, tinks, any interviews coming up?
