Oh dear, disagreeing with Eddie twice in one night. Gas was better back in the day, the leccy heats it up rather than sears it imho.

Jelous!! It just tastes better IMO from a gas grill it goes that lovely brown bubbly way just dont get that in my grill :0(

Try putting the bread closer to the grill elements so it is hotter. You control the heat on an electric grill by putting the stuff you are grilling loser or futher from the elements.
