What do you my friends think of this poem?

WHEN I DIE, WHEN I AM GONE
CRY NO TEARS FOR ME.
MY ASHES SPREAD THEM ON THE DUNES
WHERE I CAN HEAR THE SEA.
WHERE I CAN WATCH THE RISING SUN
OR VIEW A CRESCENT MOON
AND HEAR THE LONELY SEABIRDS CRY
OR SOARING SKYLARKS TUNE.

ERECT NO STONE TO HOLD ME THERE
THEN I MAY WANDER FREE.
NO CROSS OF WOOD UPON MY GRAVE
THAT CALLS YOU BACK TO ME.
NO FLORAL TRIBUTE LAY YOU THERE
ABOVE THE STORM LASHED SEA,
JUST LET THE WILD WIND BLOW ITS SONG
AND CRY NO TEARS FOR ME.

IF EACH OF YOU RECALL ONE DAY
WHEN YOU WERE THERE WITH ME,
THAT FILLS YOUR HEART AND MIND WITH JOY,
LET THAT, MY MEMORY BE.
NO SORROWED SIGHS, NO HEAVY HEARTS,
JUST SET MY SPIRIT FREE.
REMEMBER ME AS ONCE I WAS,
AND CRY NO TEARS FOR ME.

I'm glad you all thought it was apt and beautiful, I certainly thought so when I read it last year. It won a Poetry Competition in our local free magazine. The name of the entrant wasn't given I'm afraid as they just gave his/her age as being "under 94"!!
I didn't catch the answer that was removed, having gone to bed but thank you for your "outrage" ttfn, zzxxee, anne and ummm.
My husband had a troubled younger life but he was happiest at Bamburgh so that is where we are going to scatter his ashes, high up on the golf course overlooking the sea.
So sorry to hear of your loss chrissa and the poem is perfect xxx
I didn't realise you had lost your husband Chrissa. So sorry.

The poem is lovely. Thinking of you.

Many thanks to you all.

Chrissa, do not fret about the removed answer, was a throwaway remark by one who did not understand your recent loss.

I wish you well through what I know to be a very testing time and the poem and your plans seem just right for your lovely man, remember all the happy times.♥
Chrissa - that poem is beautiful - I am crying my eyes out......

So very sorry to hear your sad news, Chrissa.

My Condolences to you chrissa1 ! Nice Poem
I hope that letting your husbands ashes free in a special place will give you comfort whenever you go back there ..... too often we seem to tie our memories to sad places. I think you've got it exactly right

I think we have too rowanwitch. He would have approved.
It's lovely.

Take care of yourself - in the short term you will have many people to talk to and things to do. Take time to get used to things and visit AB often.

Chrissa, I have been thinking of you a lot since our postings at the weekend and hoping that you were ok. That poem is just lovely and made me fill up reading it.
The idea of scattering his ashes at Bamburgh where he was happiest sounds perfect xx
So sorry to hear this chrissa...I'd not looked at your other thread since the weekend.
My thoughts are with you...x

The sentiments expressed in that poem are truly lovely.......
Beautiful poem, beautiful sentiment. so sorry for your loss

I'm just trying to work out if I have the courage to read it at the funeral.
I hope you do chrissa. Could you not have your children stand next to you for moral support or, perhaps, to take over if it becomes too much for you? I have been to many a funeral where close family have read something poignant. Bless them all - they gathered strength as their reading went on. The congregation will make allowances for any nerves ♥
Oh bless you Chrissa, I am sure that I could not do it!...........I think you should have this poem, it's lovely, but you shouldn't be the one to read it, it's too stressful, try to find a friend or relative who can manage it!............
Chrissa I wrote a beautiful for my husband and had someone on standby in case I couldn't read it (I couldn't) have never regretted it, so you can make your decision at the time.
You will know when the time comes my love, take care now.
I would never want to make you feel under pressure, chrissa, but I think it would be a beautiful poem for you to read, and I doubt it could mean as much to anyone as it would to you
Sorry ttfn and Mamy, but I really thin it would be too much to ask of chrissa, someone should read the poem on her behalf!...........would be too stressful for her to read it!................
