Traders

The broadsheet newspapers this week have been full of photographs of stock exchange traders with looks of anguish and despair on their faces due to the falls in the stock market,. Some have even been in tears.

I'd like to know how these traders are personally affected by these falls to cause them such despair. Are these the people that are investing other peoples money? Why do they look as if they feel personally responsible for these stock market falls? I suppose I'm after a quick explanation of how these people earn their living.

Many thanks.

erm, I dont think its responsibility bookend.

They are looking anguished because a large proportion of their package is a performance related bonus, and this is BIG money. Obscene money.

So when they are face with the prospect of no bonus some anguish occurs, plus its a highly competitive and cutthroat job.
