Have just been reading about the sort of clothes Meghan will have to wear when she marries her prince. The rules to be obeyed when she is addressing other Royals having to curtsy to some when she becomes a British Citizen. Don't start to eat before the Queen and finish when she does! Also, she cannot wear a tiara until her wedding day.I wonder how long these rules will go on until.Perhaps Charles might be less strict?Your thoughts please.

These are protocols that have been in place for hundreds of years, so I would imagine Meghan is not only aware of them, but happy to accept them.

Anyone who is married enters a family who do things differently from them - it's part of the deal, and most people are ok with it.
I have read about the Queen's eating habits. As soon as she has finished ALL the plates are cleared away, finished or not. Xmas lunch has to be over within 50 minutes.
I agree with Andy, to a point it's part of the deal and mostly based on politeness and courtesy.

The young couple can be casual and dress down when off duty.
I wasn't aware that Charles wore a tiara - well - not in public, anyway!

As British citizens, most of us are aware of Royal protocol, but it must seem strange to someone from a country that doesn't have Royalty. I would be a nervous wreck, worried in case I get sent to the tower!
I agree with A-H.
She is joining a Royal Club which has protocol which must be followed to the letter.
As long as the protocols don't extend to private life of a married couple I should expect that she'll be happy to "endure" such hardships.
they seem a bit anachronistic, but them's the rules, at least for now. can't see anything wrong in what she wears. I wonder that once they are married there will be a lot of travelling abroad where it might not matter so much, on say charity work which could see them much more relaxed.
Barsel....the tower has a strict code of dress and protocol for mealtimes during which you must drink the water when you have bread in your mouth.

Yes Emmie, I agree that she might be allowed to wear ripped jeans and a sloppy shirt when carrying out charity work, but even then I wouldn't be too sure.

Lol sqad.:-)
wasn't so much thinking of ripped jeans, but more casual than is currently expected, highly unlikely that she will be suited and booted if they are doing the rounds abroad say on one of Harry's charity gigs.
Is there a dress code for the different meals of the day - or can you turn up in ripped jeans ?
The dress code is more to do with etiquette than anything else, skirts not half way up your ***, or short sleeves when attending a church service for example.
Don't see anything wrong with it actually, i am sure you would soon complain if she wore something not appropriate.
I think she'll do just fine.

Doubt she'd be eating with the Queen that often anyway, so that won't matter.

What I can't get out of my head are the images of Charles in a tiara and Sqad knowing the DRESS code for the Tower of London.
I don't know if it still goes on but King George V and Queen Mary always dressed up in full rig for dinner, even when there were just the two of them.

I didn't know that one about wearing short sleeves in church.Probably she will be allocated a stylist and end up wearing some horrendous creations that don't suit her at all.

Perhaps there is a Royal school of etiquette where you can go for a 6 week course run by Paul Burrell. :-)
Sqad does a lovely curtsey ;-)
