Onwards and Downwards Continues in January 2015

Happy New Year,

I hope you all let your hair down a little for the holidays and had some fun. I was going to do something about detox but that's not really what we are about here is it?

So how about Dry January, anyone going for it?

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

We are all familiar enough aren't we, with stories of people who lose weight only to out it all back on again. Well a couple of years ago, with your support I lost 3 stone. In 2013 I lost another half a stone and last year I maintained about the same weight all year. But this Christmas I accepted every chocolate offered and managed to gain a whopping 6lbs. If it wasn't...

Oooooh your new scales have arrived!! I hope they are honest ones, and don't drive you up the wall like the last ones. Thank you for allowing me my despondency, I've just completed my first ten minutes. Now, I'm going out for a walk. :-)
You be very very careful with these new scales . They won't tell you Lies .
That remains to be seen. If they are as inconsistent as the ones bought by those who left a review on the manufacturer's website, then I shall be no further forward. And wasted 3 shillings and thruppence to boot.
Hmm.... not exactly a happy bunny.

I hoped the new ones would confirm that the old ones was being pessimistic as well as inconsistent. The new ones seem consistent based on just 2 weighings, but they are reading higher than the old ones were at their worst ! Instead of having issues dropping down to the next stone, it's claiming I'm almost into the one above !

I hope it's badly zeroed itself and will sort itself out in the next week or so :-(
It has just occurred to me. The description states "graduation increments of 0.2 lb" and yet the display showed no sign of fractions of a pound. In fact I don't think the display is wide enough for it to do so. Damned swizz >:-(
I finally reach 79.0 and assuming I'm still 5'10" I casually check my height and find I'm only 5'9", meaning my BMI is actually 25.7! I've lost my love handles, my spare tyre has deflated and my chin is single again, but losing an inch in height...that's old age creeping up on me! Onward AND DOWNward I go!
That's the problem with being a good girl. Too many pats on the head.
lol
Boy even
Boy it is!
:-))
Jomlett I just took it for granted you were female till I checked . So now we have 2 males . Keep up the good work .
Not a good start to the week. I know it's after the usual heavier intake weekend, and that they are new scales that read higher than the others, but I gone up 1 lb since Saturday morning. No longer wondering why I've not dropped down to the next stone, month after month after month; I'm seeing I've gone up to the next ! Hopefully it'll be down some by Wednesday, but that's a psychological blow :-(
Just checked my SW book (haven't been weighed for 2 weeks) and then my scales this morning and I have lost 4lbs. My SW weight is always 2lbs higher (I refuse to strip off in the village hall in this weather) but I know the truth! Was struggling a bit after Christmas but seem to have settled back into the routine again. Plus with my daughter now doing all the cooking, temptation will be removed as she wants to lose a bit of weight as well so we are supporting. each other.
Well done.
It's a blessing to have support lardhelmet. Can't you give yourself a kinder name? I feel like a bully calling you that. I shall shorten it to LH if that is all right.
Four pounds is a really good loss so you must be very pleased. I hope your daughter is doing as well as her mum.
Well done lh on your loss. It helps as well when you have support .good luck for this week .
That is NOT a good sign.
Allegedly I have dropped 1.6 lbs over 24 hours.
That sort of nonsense is precisely why I didn't rush out and buy any old set of replacement scales, for all the good it did me.
Good morning all,
For the first time in months I'm up a little under a pound. Hubby has been poorly, I don't drive so haven't been to the grocery store for a week, have run out of everything and been making do which has filled my stomach but not my criteria for the proper foods. Next week will be better and hubby is on the mend ( strep throat) I hope the rest of you have better results...roll out the naughty step!
Awww sorry to hear that xstitcher; pleased he's on the mend now. Look after each other and enjoy your big shop when you finally get to do it!

I have remained the same this week. Co-incidently I had a couple of days nursing OH too. he is perfectly well now, but it took plenty of comfort food to keep his spirits up! Never mind, we're back on track now.
