Happy New Year,

I hope you all let your hair down a little for the holidays and had some fun. I was going to do something about detox but that's not really what we are about here is it?

So how about Dry January, anyone going for it?

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

We are all familiar enough aren't we, with stories of people who lose weight only to out it all back on again. Well a couple of years ago, with your support I lost 3 stone. In 2013 I lost another half a stone and last year I maintained about the same weight all year. But this Christmas I accepted every chocolate offered and managed to gain a whopping 6lbs. If it wasn't...

Just a thought OG ......why not look for a German or Swiss scales? They are both well known for their prescision.
Ah, but they probably don't weigh in stones/pounds ;-)
Thanks for the thought.
The slowing down is normal Jomlett so don't fret. You are at the point where every 100 gms is a victory. My doctor warned me that this would come so it didn't surprise me, and you are not to worry, but we will conquer so keep on doing what you are doing.
OG you can't get out of that one my scales were made in Germany but still in stones lbs and ozs.
xstitcher, thanks for that.
X stitcher - the dried peas and barley etc mix is called soup mix round here, and it usually stocked where the dried peas are.
Was away from home again latter half of last week so not controlling intake again. However been back, weighed myself Monday, not so good but expected I suppose. Weighed myself today after a normal "good" day intakewise. I gave the scales four tries to not lie and not pretend that over a "good" 24 hours I had not gone up another 1¾ lbs and what did it do after the second weighing ? Started pretending instead that I'd gone up over 2 lb. I think that has to be the last straw. I don't need this stress.
Difinately time for a new set of scales .
YES OG NEW SCALES!!!!
I did spot what seems at first glance to be a couple of nice scales from eatsmart, but on looking for them in the UK they seem to have disappeared. In fact their products seem out of stock everywhere :-( I can see what looks like the same scale as the lower priced one but unless they are trading under a different name ... Weird.
Gone for the BalanceFrom version of (from looking at it) the same scales as I was checking out. Seems the EatSmart doesn't sell to the UK. Darned internet review sites.
Does this mean that you have actually BOUGHT a new scales????
Oooh, have you ordered new scales, OG? Or have you got them already?
Good luck for tomorrow everyone. I'm still not ready to weigh myself since Christmas. I'll weigh in a couple of weeks.
That's okay Marijn. I take it you are "working on the problem"
Here we all are waiting with bated breath for OG's post to see if he has finally binned the old stressful scales and bought new ones. ha ha.
Shall we open a book on it. :-))
:-)
Ordered on the Net, will not be here for tomorrow morning. But I've bought new scales before, didn't like them, took them back for a refund. It seems all too easy to get new and find they are no better than the set just discarded. They all seem dodgy. Oh for the proper type where you slide the weights along the bar until it balances. I can't see that type ever getting it wrong.
Good morning finally got a start 1lb loss . I did expect a bit more despite the cream cake I had on Sunday . But going the right way . got another 2 xmas lbs to clear then on my way down hopefully .
Glad to say I'm down another 800 grams to 79.1. BMI is at last 25 but not yet below that! Onward and downward with the low carb diet and watching those dieters on BBC last night, I'm glad I've forsaken bread, biscuits, pies, pastries and potatoes!
Good morning all,
Down 2 lbs so there is wild rejoicing in the house!
May I again tell you the benefits of using a smaller plate than you usually. It automatically reduces your portions and you are not getting the sight of a large plate that is looking quite empty.
