Onwards and Downwards Continues in January 2015

Happy New Year,

I hope you all let your hair down a little for the holidays and had some fun. I was going to do something about detox but that's not really what we are about here is it?

So how about Dry January, anyone going for it?

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

We are all familiar enough aren't we, with stories of people who lose weight only to out it all back on again. Well a couple of years ago, with your support I lost 3 stone. In 2013 I lost another half a stone and last year I maintained about the same weight all year. But this Christmas I accepted every chocolate offered and managed to gain a whopping 6lbs. If it wasn't...

Thanks auntie and a happy new year to you!
Happy new year, slimmers. Several days stuck on 80 kilos, from 95k last spring, and 5k short of my longterm target and not yet below 25 on the BMI, means I have to try that much harder to achieve perfection!
Happy new year auntie and everyone .My scales are still redundant till Monday then it's all systems go for slimmer of the year .
Happy New Year everyone! I'm not going to get on the scales until mid January. I'm going to be sensible now and exercise as well as eating healthy food.
Cheers :-)

And no, removing food groups from the diet isn't something I approve of.
Happy New Year everyone. My scales will need a good dusting down, but I do intend to see what they say on Wednesday however shocking it might be!

Then I shall on your coat tails Wendilla as I'll be more than happy wth runner up!
This is the year for me to actually DO something abut weight instead of always talking about it or thinking about it.
January is always a dry month for me and I do it every year. I also try to avoid all alcohol until my birthday in March.
Good luck to all ABers going for the big weight loss this year. We can do it !!
xx
All I know is that I am not back home yet and most days since the last weighing I seem to have consumed 1.5 to 2 times what I should aim for.

I tried on my shirt with the poppers at the front yesterday. When I first bought it I could not do it up, but have been able to wear it over the last year. But I think it is trying to tell me something about Xmas/New Year. The poppers won't always stay fastened ! Oh well ...
Don't go buying a larger shirt just get back to onwards and downwards . Did santa not bring you a new set of scales .?
No. I once more looked at a lot on the Net, even posted a question on the Amazon site about one (didn't get a useful answer to the posed question) but nothing seems to be what I really want.

Which is consistency, accuracy, precision, and hopefully a WiFi and/or Bluetooth connection to the PC and/or mobile that doesn't demand my private data goes out to Net servers for the world to hack/browse. (It'd be so good to automatically record progress (or lack thereof) to view.)

Surely it isn't that much to ask in this high tech society ? But it seems it is. Most manufacturers/retails don't even seem to know the ability of what they create/sell.
Along with many other people, I'm getting back on the straight and narrow this morning. I've put on 5lbs over the festive season and I think I've got off fairly lightly. I've had a great Christmas, it's been fantastic. I've eaten everything that hasn't been nailed down (come to think of it, I've eaten quite a few things that WERE nailed down) and nearly everything involved cakes, chocolate, cream, cheese and alcohol. However, I'm going on holiday in just over two weeks so it's back on the straight and narrow for Lynda!
Oh my good Lord...

I ought not have jumped on the scales for another few weeks.

That's the biggest Xmas rise that I've ever seen.

Wish I'd achieved the same as you Lyn. I managed the eating part but not the retaining little part. Well done you.
Lynda well instead of worrying over xmas food like me you had a good time and as you know you have managed to get back on track before and I am positive you will do it again as you know what to do.

Og we have to dust the naughty step . But hopefully not for long .
Well good morning all and a happy new year. May our weight losses be phenomenal!
I have lost one pound over the festive season so am reasonably satisfied.
I forgot to click on "subscribe" so have just now read your posts and was so glad to feel the overall determination coming through.
Good morning and a happy new year well that's the Wednesday morning shock over and make my way to the naughty step with an extra 2 lbs but its like a naughty child I enjoyed every minute of it but now it is time to reverse the situation . Well done xstitcher .

If it wasn't for you all and this thread I would be in denial about the tightness of the jeans and have no doubt that the 6lbs would just creep and creep. Instead its Wednesday and I'm in the right place! Cosying up with supportive people on the naughty step knowing exactly what we need to do.

Thank you and Happy healthy New Year everyone.
I'm down to 79 if 79.9 counts! Onward and downward still, but slowing now, and after months of dieting, the illusive below 25 BMI still defeats me...I will not give up, though, as the variations of the low carb diet are immense, I will not be returning to heavily processed food.
Well as suggested Monday, the Xmas period showed an unbelievable gain.
The better news is that the scales claim I'm already 1⅛ lbs down from that reading.
Errr... beat your gain Maydup. :-p
Still have today in fact.
Gosh the naughty step is filling up with such nice people I almost wish I was there.
I'm making scotch broth at the moment. Can anybody tell me what the packets od dried peas and barley etc. is called? I used to be able to buy it in Spain in Iceland.
