Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Well we were lucky with the weather this summer weren't we? So I hope loads of tasty salads made it into your day. Now we are heading into autumn the kids are going back to school and for some this means a thankful return to no tempting snacks in the house.

But sometimes you just need a little something to keep you going until dinner so how about some ideas for healthy snacks (thanks again xstitcher) to fight the cravings and keep us on track.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Morning all I have stayed the same. Was intending to be good but my daughter has been into making these fancy cup cakes and of course they found there way over here.
Good Morning All, Please make room for me on the naughty step as I have just registered a 2 lb gain which doesn't surprise me. Like our friend who moved to Wales I find that travelling is a great occasion for reviving bad eating habits and I am surprised that I didn't put on more.

Xstitch, I mean it. Even to lose just a pound is terrific. Gold stars all round to all the losers(winners). I'm very impressed with all the effort people put in to it. My admiration is endless. I'm trying (and failing) to do something. I just started, so all the feedback from others is great encouragement. xx
Hi Janbee with all the ideas and input from people since Xstitcher and I started this posts over 2 years ago it has certainly helped a lot of us. Sometimes it is a losing battle but by coming on here each week it helps to get us back on track. Thank you for your input as it is very true.
Well first of all, Welcome! We are a nice bunch of people and we never judge or criticize......we focus on healthy eating.....very little is said about exercise on here.....I know we should but it seems to be a word most of us seem to avoid, although we do have some sensible members. lol I hope that we can help you. We seem to becoming a very closely knit little group. If we fall off the straight and narrow we go and sit on the naughty step until the following Wed. which is our chosen weigh in day....but that isn't written in stone, it just happens to suit most of us.
We welcome any ideas for healthy food. This month we are focusing on snacks. I don't know what the editor will give us next month.
I began this some 3 years ago when I was so down in the dumps because after a year of doing without, loosing weight and then starting to gain again I need somebody to pat me on the shoulder and say "poor thing" lol. Wendilla answered me and the rest is history.
Whoops I can see that Wendilla says it was 2 years ago......she is probably right.
Yes stitcher I think it is nearer 3 years I will have to do a check
Someone put our very first post up I can't remember who it was I will try and find it but couldn't so if anyone can find it would be grateful .
I would love to post that here. I checked my profile hoping it might be there but it wasn't. I am still smarting with the answer from that half wit who wrote that she couldn't understand why a person my age would want to bother. Imagine saying a thing like that to me......when my role model is Honour Blackman!!!!!!!!lol

How about a round of pats on the back for everyone.

Speaking of next month's thread xstitcher was thinking about soups, but has that been done to death? :-)

How about something completely different like stir fry?

Any ideas would be welcome x
Very happy with a 1lb loss this week as I wasn't expecting it after having a curry on Saturday. Still not lost all that I gained but getting there!
