Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Well we were lucky with the weather this summer weren't we? So I hope loads of tasty salads made it into your day. Now we are heading into autumn the kids are going back to school and for some this means a thankful return to no tempting snacks in the house.

But sometimes you just need a little something to keep you going until dinner so how about some ideas for healthy snacks (thanks again xstitcher) to fight the cravings and keep us on track.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

I can see that one day of partying and one day of recovering leave its mark Jan. Poor you.
I'm with you Jan - another stone before Christmas would be wonderful for me too and with 3 months to go, it should be achievable shouldn't it? I will try hard and look forward to buying a new top or something to wear on the day.

1lb down this week.

Good Morning All,
I'm very pleased to say that I'm down 2 lbs. That was a surprise because with all the rushing about lately I haven't been paying much attention to meals which have also been at some odd times.
Good for you Maydup with your loss. I hope that you and Jan reach your "one stone off for Christmas"
Well done xstitcher; i'm a great believer in "rushing around" when it comes to losing an extra pound! You do at least feel you benefited in some way even if it was a bit exhausting.
Well done xstitcher. That gremlins have been in my wardrobe again. Have managed to gain nearly 2 lbs. They have been lurking about for 2 weeks now. A stone off fos xmas too Maydup that is my aim.
So mixed results so far this week then ladies ?
Glad to see the scales telling me I'm down 1 lb.
Maybe (fingers crossed) it's the start of a run at last ?
Well done OG You must have done something right this week. Good luck for next week.
Gosh are we all clever clogs.......pat yourselves on the back. Just heard on the new health suggestions here that we shouldn't eat more than one pound of meat per week.
I think I shall make some vegetable soup...good way to clean up the veggie bins in the fridge.
Not sure how they work out the meat poundage thing, probably someone's wild guess, but here was I wondering if I could up the meat protein and reduce the carbs instead.

It'd be interesting to work out how much meat I do consume in a week. Probably twice that I'd expect, and I think I'm not eating that much meat. Mainly bulking up on starch I think. Potatoes, rice, some baked snacks.
2lb off for me this week. Well done xstitcher, Maydup and OG for your losses. I'm sure you'll be back losing soon Wendilla. It's a hard old slog but going to keep trying for that stone before Christmas. Good luck all for the next week.
Glad to see you're back on track Jan. I knew you would do that. I have great faith in you.
Thanks xstitcher :-)
Well done jan and thanks for the back up it is so easy to stray but takes double the time to get back again. Keep up the good work.
Oh dear Wendilla, it looks like you are alone on the naughty step. You had better clean out that wardrobe lol.
RE Snacks....this works for me......I have my snacks twice a day at the same time ....11 and 4 o'clock. I realize everyone can't do this but it does help to keep them contained and not be reaching out for something at other times.
...and what snacks do you have xsticher?

I have fruit at 11am. A peach, or a small banana or an apple and some grapes.
I can manage without in the afternoon, but being a night owl, I do sometimes twitch for a snack at about 10pm. Then I have a rice cake with the tiniest dot of jam or honey. Or.... more grapes, a handful of nuts and raisins or a yoghurt.
It depends Maydup. Sometimes it's fruit, a musli snack bar, a handful of raisins, a rice cake with lo fat cheese, small carrots, pumkin seeds (taste like nuts which I love but keep away from), some celery which I love, small tomatoes....whatever is there really. I'm usually okay in the evening.
Oh dear....1lb up this morning. But I did bake a cake at the weekend and then couldn't resist a slice here or there since. Plus a working buffet one evening which was very heavy on the carbs but I was too hungry to resist.

Still, thanks to the routine of logging on here, I'll get back on track today I know. Cottage cheese, celery and radish salad packed for lunch and a good walk promised.
Shall be joining you on the step Maydup. Up ⅝ lbs, but having had 2 days away from home it is better than anticipated.
Good Morning All,
We are now in Spain again for a couple of months and as yet I haven't found my routine so completely forgot to weigh myself today....I shall do it tomorrow and am quite certain that I shall be joining Maydup and OG on the step. See you again tomorrow.
