What did he mean by this?

So I was just trying to put a textbook back on the shelf and i had to walk through this group of guys to do so(one of them is my crush and ive caught him looking at me) but they were having a conversation so I was "Excuse me". Then they all just stopped talking. I thought it was quite strange since one of them was mid sentence! And then i walked away. At the same time the guy i talk to most in that class started singing and my crushes friend said "thats your competition". What happened?

I think you need to chat with your mama and papa. Perhaps pater knows the young man's family and will arrange to speak with his father to discuss the possibility of his calling on you one Sunday afternoon. Of course, you will need a chaperone for the first three years, but it's better not to rush these things.
It sounds like the guy who is your crush might fancy you, and might also fancy the guy to whom he was talking.

Perhaps he can't make up his mind about his orientation, and he's torn between you and that guy ... so you and that guy are in competition for the affections of your crush.
Could your clothing have been mistaken for a crossword puzzle?
Oh, hang on ... I've got my guys mixed up.

Who was the crush's friend talking to? The crush? or the guy who was singing?
head hurts
Awwwww JJ. And here was me, full of admiration, thinking you had it sorted.
Well, either way, if tori is competition for a guy, then the person to whom the friend was speaking seems to be either bi, or else undecided. If he's bi, then tori is in with a shout. If he's undecided, tori might have to wait until he makes his mind up.
"in competition WITH a guy" !!
Is this in Brighton?
"That's your competition" was said to whom? About whom?
Not sure, Dave.

I dont think it can be. Tori is female, and her crush is a guy ... so probably not Brighton, LOL.
Let's see if I have this straight.

By "my crush" do you mean you have a thing for him or he has a thing for you ? I'll assume the former.

You squeeze past a group of guys, one of whom is someone you like, and they stop talking when you say, "Excuse me." Hardly surprising, they're probably gobsmacked you didn't say "please", but that aside, at school age, when a member of the opposite sex talks to you, it's a big deal. Clearly they all found you more interesting that whatever they were chatting about.

Then a second male friend starts singing ?!?!? Does he do that often ? Was this in class, or in the library ? Well never mind, let's skip that bit.

And this guy you are keen on has a friend who then says, "That's your competition." So he's saying the singing guy is gay or bi and fancies the guy that you fancy ?

It all seems rather strange to me. Perhaps best to give them all a wide berth.
Simply say "no but yeah but no but. .."
I think OG and I are leaning towards similar conclusions.
I think OG is Columbo.
They were talking to each other. You interrupted them by saying "Excuse me". They let you pass. Then they carried on talking to each other. The end.
I guess it is possible he meant that the singing guy fancies you and you'd need to let him down first before you encouraged the crush. Doesn't really follow from what was said, but .....
