I just cant seem to get anywhere fast. ( i sorry to post another question but its a different subject so thought it would muddle my other post.)

I know it could seem i am just being impatient but my life feels like its stuck at the moment. I am in a low paid job, though have had an offer from the civil service though this will still not be much pay after deductions.

I am struggling with money my main concern being to save enough to move out, as i think i would be able to do more etc if i have my own place or something, just feel constrained living at home.

I am unhealthy and unmotivated and just feel like giving up. This being linked to being depressed and having no friends or a girlfriend. It would just be nice to have friends to go out with and to chat up women like i used to at uni. I feel like life is passing me by and there is nothing i can do about it.

If you are on a low wage, how are you going to afford to live on your own, who`s going to pay the bills, council tax etc.
As for not being motivated, get motivated, nothing worse than sitting indoors all day doing sod all to get you down in the dumps. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you`ve only got one chance in life so make the most of it now,
When you wake up tommorow morning don`t think of it as just another boring Monday, think of it as a new start, go look for a better paid job....rant over...good luck

Well I have the offer of this job with the civil service and feel it will be good experience to do it for at least a year so that i forfill the criteria on the person specification of at least a year's admin experience. I will try to do other things at the same time during that year or so to enhance what i am both in terms of being able tio get a job and moving on with life in general.
How old are you?
Question Author
i will be 24 this friday.
Ok. So you say you are unhealthy and unmotivated.

Why are you?

You are young and have your whole life ahead of you - and yet you seem to be taking a 'my life is passing me by' attitude.

NOT a criticism, i can assure you. But if you don't sort yourself out now, you will kick yourself in 10 years time.

See the next 2 weeks (as stated in your other thread) as a period of thinking AND doing.

Work out your priorities and look at tackling them one by one.

I assure you i am trying to do that.

But am overwhealmed by life seeming like one big to do list. I know i should take each day as it comes but just cant seem to do it in practice.

In the last few months i have got much btter at asking myself what is wrong or getting myself to do things i would not have done 6 months ago. I spent my time working only part time, so not getting much money and only occasionally applying for jobs.

After some advice here and my own thoughts i am now trying to work all the hours i can at my current job so that at least i am not missing on out on money that could be paying off bills and an overdraft.

I used to do say 25 hours a week and the other days just mope at home.

Now for the last 8 weeks or so i have been working as much as i can maybe 40 hours a week, some on a sunday to get extra pay. Then one day a week admin work at a charity (voluntary) one day conservation work. Have joined a social clun which is on a thursday evening and have counselling session once a week. I try to swim at least once a week.

So for the moment i am trying to do what i can but i do need to get more office type qualifications but thats hard when i am trying to save money. I will try to apply for some more well paid jobs in the meantime.
how about i give you a kick up the hole would you move then?
Question Author
thanks bob i will be around in abit for my kicking.
Blimey steve208!!!!

How about you take five minutes for yourself to say 'Aren't i doing well?'

For goodness sake, man... you have gone from doing just 25 hours a week plus moping to doing all that!

Excellent work! Try and be a little kinder on yourself. You have clearly kicked yourself up the backside and don't need the lovely bob to do it!

You seem to be on the right track - perhaps the feeling of being overwhelmed could be spun on its head? If it FEELS like a 'to do' list, make a 'to do' list. Note down everything you want to achieve within 6 months, a year, 2 years, etc. Try and set yourself REALISTIC goals, and be bloody pleased when you hit the target and can cross one off.

Look at what you HAVE achieved recently and what you COULD achieve if you stick to your plans.
afternoon fee
Bob, you're like a little imp, dancing in the shadows.
anything for you fee
(Apols steve208)

Dance for me, bob... you know you want to.
Good advice from fee! :-)

Pat yourself on the back, you going the right way.

the funky chicken?
Only if you wear the costume... you know it drives me wild.

Anyway.

I have made targets of what i want to get out of a certian period in life and feel that they end up not getting done and i look at the things i wanted to do and regret it all and get down.
That did it for me, babe.

I need a cup of tea and a sticky bun, now.
