For any ladies out there who are nervous about having a smear, and refuse to go this may be your answer costly roughly £30 including delivery.

Feel free to leave your views but if the pro-NHS-smear people could not have 'a go' at the nervous non-NHS-smear people that would be good as that's what they get all the time, nag nag nag, they understand the risks, and they might not read the post or comment if people start on them, thank you.

tony....no it can effect men as well, causing warts by direct contact....kissing etc.

The "big deal" about the virus is that almost ALL cervical cancers are caused by this bloody virus.

Google it tony.
This home test is for HPV which is now a regular test every time we go for cervical screening (and has already been offered to girls too young to be eligible for screening - this home test is NOT a replacement for the regular 3-yearly CS check which does far more than check for HPV.

For those who don't know, during a smear test, the taker looks at the cervix, looking for irregularities - the sample taken is for much more than only the HPV indicators.

I'm not going to have a go at anyone, but HPV is only on indicator and I seriously encourage everyone female to get their CS check done - it's not the nicest of experiences but it's not awful, and it can save your life.
sqad, I agree with you, which is why the youngsters have been offered the HPV test first - catch it early and you can do something about it :-)
Righto sqad thanks, It's a baddy then.
boxy........what a post.......you are a star.

tony.......NO, the majority of HPV are not baddies.
Gee thanks sqad - I've learned a lot about CS training courses over the years :-)
I would prefer someone who knows what they're doing to do my smear test. The clinic I go to for them, mainly does smear tests and they're so quick and efficient and miles better at it than the nurse at my doctor's surgery.

well said, 2sp :-)
Three cheers for boxy, great explanation :o)
It amazes me that so many women don't have the smear test and would rather take the chance of having a condition which is life threatening but which could so easily be sorted out if caught early.
I wouldn't call it a deeply unpleasant experience to be honest, just a bit uncomfy.

Had my smear test yesterday. I cannot stress strongly enough how important it is.
For God's sake.......this thread is NOTHING to do with a SMEAR TEST.
I don't need one (hysterectomy) but to be honest it makes me cringe thinking of fiddling with bits you are unfamiliar with {:o(
Bloody hell sqad, you'll get a kicking lol.
He lives life on the edge, Tony {:o(
tony.....LUV it LUv it....the women hate men wandering into their territory.... what do men know?..........;-)
LOL @ sqad, see you in the pregnancy section in a minute lol.
