So there's this satellite Poker tournament starting tonight at the Rendezvous Casino down the road.

I could buy in for £30.

Okay, the Rendezvous is not my home casino (the Grosvenor is) ... only my second casino (and not counting where I go with the BF)

... and Poker is not really my game.

But maybe I should try my hand?

(see the "hand" gag there??)

I could invest it wisely in lunch at The White Rabbit.
with enough left for some popcorn while watching tv tonight...
Change the £30 into pound coins.

Find a grid in the street, and throw the coins in one by one.

any which bounce out are your winnings.

Far better odds - enjoy!
Question Author
Venator ... that misses thr point.

That's like saying that instead of going to the cinema, you should throw £10 into the street, because you'd be better off.
If you accept that you're not going to win you could look at the £30 as the cost of an evenings entertainment.
Don't suppose it would buy much in Brighton.
If it's £30 you can afford to lose then why not. It could be fun.

"Don't suppose it would buy much in Brighton"

Lots of rock.

24 and a bit hours in The Lanes car park.

Couple of bottles of wine.

A few rides on the spinny thing at the end of the pier.

Two and a half pairs of socks from Runners Need.

Well, of course it's just entertainment. I'm hardly likely to win a Poker tournament. Oh, that's a thought ... not seen redhelen on here for a while.

Evian ... it could be jolly, couldn't it?
£30 for a night out and the chance of winning more .... go for it and have fun !!
Perhaps I'm not being entirely serious, jj?
Question Author
Maybe not, Ven.

Traci ... not much chance of winning, I don't think, but maybe fun. Shame it's not at The Grosvenor.
A Hand Job now and again can be very rewarding JJ ! :-)

Go for it - have fun - a day at the races with a small bet on each race would cost about the same and no-one would be moralising about that ?
Question Author
Good point, dave.
To put it into perspective, JJ. People who can ill afford it, spend a lot more than that on the lottery fantasy ;o)
Question Author
Absolutely, Dave.

Even as a total newbie, I think my odds of having a fluke win are better than 14,000,000 to 1
Gee I saw the title and thought it was an offer :-(
