I have my detailed scan next week when hopefully, as well as finding out that everything is well with the baby, we will also find out the sex. Unfortunately my husband has to work so our 6 year old son's teacher has agreed that he can come along with me. Anyway, because my husband can't be there we want to do something special for him instead of say a text message or just telling him "Its a Girl/Boy". Does anyone have any ideas? I thought about maybe wrapping up a ballet shoe or football shoe keyring something like that but maybe a bit more interesting! Please help. Thanks in advance. Joey

are you sure that you can take children along to the scan, as at my local hospital they wont allow children and if you do take a child they will not give you the scan.

Yes, I have been in contact with the hospital and they have said that it is fine for our son to attend. Quite lucky really because I know not all of them do.
I was able to take my daughter to two of my scans. She was still 6 at the time adn seemed quite impressed although she did get a bit fidgety towards the end.
How about setting an extra place at the dinner table and having either a blue or a pink teddy bear sat at the extra place?
A sealed envelope with baby talc powder & a nappy pin of the baby's sex (blue for boy, pink for girl)
Can you record any of the scan on your mobile, or would that interfere with the equipment? Or could he listen to the radiographer so that he could find out at the same time as you?

Thanks all. Some great ones there but my Dad came up with this one which I'm going with. Using the pin the tail on the donkey theme (no it isn't what you think...I thought the same when he said that! ha ha). Draw a picture of a baby with just a nappy on then draw & cut out a pink dress and then some blue dungarees. I'll put pins in both and show him as he comes in. I will then blind fold him and give him the correct one and when he pins it on and removes his blind fold, he will see whether its a boy or girl! Sounds a bit complicated but its really great. I've done it already and can't wait to try it out!
