I felt a lump in my breast on Saturday and I cannot get to see a Dr until Thursday morning. I am worried sick and thinking horrible thoughts.
My mam had and passed away with cancer so am worried as it can be hereditary.
Any words to calm my anxiety

I can only add my warm wishes and that I'm aware that most lumps are perfectly harmless but you're obviously doing the right thing getting it checked quickly. Keep popping in for a chat until Thursday, don't worry on your own x

Did you explain the reason for wanting to see the Doctor?

There is every possibility it's nothing serious but that won't stop you worrying.
the wait will have no effect on the future
four days delay has no effect

Only on one's sanity Peter.
A couple of quotes from the NHS website (with my capitals):

1. "Most breast lumps are HARMLESS . . . "

2. "These tests usually show that a lump ISN'T cancer"

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/breast-lump/
The vast majority are benign, a cyst or similar.
You will be OK.
Most are harmless and it doesn't follow that because your mum had cancer you will also. Easy to say, but really - try not to worry. Best wishes to you.

Yes, when I spoke to the receptionist I explained what the appointment was for.
If it's any consolation Kath, a very, very dear relative of mine had a lump in her breast and she was naturally worried sick. It turned out to be mastitis and was treated successfully. Good luck.
it can also be ultra-thick breast tissue, as my wife had - and, no, I am not talking nipples....
A relative of mine also had a lump, which after various tests, was found to be benign and needed no treatment.

Sounds like positive stories out there.
It's making me feel abit better. Thank you guys!
The next few days will feel long, but there's always someone here to chat to - once you're seen then you'll start to feel more take care of.
The vast majority are nothing serious, kath. It is always worth getting checked, but finding out what it is doesn't change the results, it just gives you more accurate options of what to do. Please try not to worry and I wish you all the best xx
I had a lump in my breast, luckily it turned out to be nothing serious. The doctor said the majority of them are nothing too bad.

I wish you well.

I’ve had 3 mammograms and ultrasounds for lumps in my breasts. All fatty tissue.

As hard as it is, try not to worry until you have something to worry about.
Take each day as it comes...my DD HAD SIMILAR oops SOZ.... Just go with the flow....follow their directions and hopefully things will turn out that they benign. Wishing you the best of the best xxx

It might be worth phoning up in the morning to see if there are any appointments available tomorrow (cancellations etc) so that you can get the ball rolling sooner and have your mind put at rest sooner.
I found two lumps in my breast. Fortunately they were both cysts and there's a good chance yours will be something similiar. Wonder why you can't get to Dr til Thursday, if it's because that's the first appointment you could get perhaps you should ring again and tell the receptionist about your lump. I'm not sure a few days will make much difference, please try not to worry. Once the Dr sees you, if you have the same experience I did, the NHS will swing into action and you should get a two week referral. Take care.
