Breast lump

Hi all.
I have had a lump in my breast for around 8 weeks now. My GP has seen me twice and referred me to the breast clinic for further investigation. The lump has gotten no bigger or smaller and is painless. At my hospital appointment I was examined by a doctor who confirmed there was a lump of some kind and referred me for an ultrasound. As I am only (!) 30 so they said a mammogram would not show anything up easily as the breasts are dense at my age.
At the scan the sonographer went over and over the lump then asked me to put my finger on it (as presumably she couldn't see it on the screen) then after a few minutes declared that "I can see nothing sinister at all there, probably some fat that has turned hard. This is what I will report to the Dr." i could've kissed her!
So.. Then I waited to see The Dr again. He was less giddy and brought me back down to Earth. He said he will see me again in 6 weeks to check it out again and possibly do a biopsy.
Now the hubby says he's probably just covering himself and that the scan lady knows exactly what to look for. But now I'm worrying all over again. Has anyone had a similar experience?

ditto and mine was a calcium deposit, from the seat belt bruise when i had a car crash!

yes. it is sometimes difficult to establish what is going on inside a breast and a biopsy is the best way to go. obviously....they put a needle into your boob to remove cells for examination. it is very uncomfortable, but worth putting your mind at rest. i had a student doc do mine (under supervision) and i spent my time giggling at him because he was so embarrassed - it was a great way to take my mind off things. but...do go and get this done and you will know where you stand. good luck x

I didnt have a lump, but they said it was a shadow behind the nipple.
Scared me to death and had to have a biopsy, and it turned out to be nothing!
So all the best and hope it all turns out to be fine x

I've had a few scares, two of which resulted in me being referred to a breast clinic, once on urgent referral, both times had an examination, ultrasound and biopsy. All times it was a harmless fibrous anenoma and all times before 30.

No harm in keeping an eye on things.

I'm a bit older than yourself, 46, and found a lump in my breast about 10 weeks ago now
I went to my gp who referred me to the hosp for a mammogram and ultra sound within 2 weeks (I went last Thursday)
I could have kissed the Dr when he told me it was nothing more than breast tissue
The guy doing the ultra sound had trouble finding anything in my breast as well as he kept going over the same part

IMO the ultra sound technician should not have said anything to you at all, because using only my experience, they are not involved when your Dr says what it may or may not be so how did she know what it 'probably' was? Of course, I have no idea how they are trained but to seems a bit strange to me

My mum had a mammogram because she is within the age bracket to have one regularly and was recalled for a biopsy. It's was a local anaesthetic and all over with very quickly. The mammogram lady didn't say anything to her at the time of the test

I'm a born worrier and it doesn't take much to send me into a snowball!
Yes I do agree ojread2, the technician should not have said what she did.
I will just try not to let it get to me too much until igo back
