It's like a chain reaction and it's just cough after cough without any breath in between. My stomach tenses up and feels like a 6 pack. I dont cough up any mucus at all and it just feels like air. I know I can't do anything about it and have to pull through but is there anything to suppress it for some relief?

"Although some people find them helpful, medicines that claim to suppress your cough or stop you bringing up phlegm are not usually recommended. This is because there's little evidence to suggest they're any more effective than simple home remedies, and they're not suitable for everyone.

A homemade remedy containing honey and lemon is likely to be just as useful and safer to take".

A bit of terminology:
A " chesty cough" is usually a moist productive cough and what you are describing is a "dry cough."

Relief?

I don't think it matters does it? You can pick one of the potions from the given NHS website, or the more homely, motherly, lemon mixture described in Buenchico's link.

I must say that i do prefer the latter.

Thanks guys, I tried some lemon water for my sinusitis and despite being the most foul taste ever, it sorted my nasal passages right out
