(This is a rerun of a question I asked a while back in the main category. Didn't get any replies there - could it be that the real buffs dwell in subcategories only? Sorry to be such a pain in the proverbial but I really want that poster - if indeed it exists.)

I used to own a black-and-white photo postcard from a Martha Graham production where dancer Merce Cunningham comes flying through the air in one giant leap. A woman (Graham?) sits at her desk in a jaded pose studying his flight toward her as if she were assessing his flying techniques rather than anticipating his company. Cunningham's body is cram full with energy, he's like a spring just released; looking at the picture you feel he must surely bounce once he lands.

I'd love to have this photo on my wall as a poster but haven't been able to find it. I'm good at advanced googling but search engines do provide different results in different countries - so if you're in the mood for some googling and you don't live in Sweden...

Ouch .I hope it's feeling better now Jno ..I've a couple in my elbows and it does hurt . And it's true it hurts all over again then it gets better. But than several years later you end up with bursitis in the elbow and they come at you with an even bigger needle !!
I've had a very boring morning slogging round Tescos .I can't be doing with it and shall be glad when our local supermarket reopens although the way things are going it won't be for a couple of months yet by the look of things .
I've got a pearl necklace you can have if you are desperate Kit ..left to me by a great aunt ..awful double row clunky thing a la her Maj .It's worth a couple of bob and I really should sell it as I will never wear it but I can't bring myself to do it somehow .

Wear it , Shaney, pearls need the moist. I love pearls (bright white, bluish white and pinkish white, not yellowish white which make me look like a corpse, I've got very pale skin) but I'm in emotional agony over how they are produced. Cultured pearls, that is, where an oyster may be "used" up to four times, first being "given" the irritant and then having it removed by surgery. Oh but I'd sure love to come across a string of natural pearls some day! It would almost certainly have to be vintage, the pearl industry doesn't bother diving nowadays. Couldn't resist buying this book a few years back; I drool over my copy a lot: people and pearls It's a fabulous book, get it and read it Shaney and I'm sure you'll be inspired to wear yours - you could have them restringed into another design you know, if the pearls themselves are pretty? Maybe choose a fancy schmancy lock and wear it to the front.
That looks like a lovely book Kit ..but I'm afraid I'm not a jewellry person . Earrings ...yes wedding ring and a watch and that's about it .I did have the pearls restrung but they still don't appeal to me They have a huge clasp with a sapphire ..not my sort of thing .I also have a single string given to me by my mother in law .They are quite nice and more understated but I still don't think they are me .I have a friend who lives in the IOW and when I visited once we went to Freshwater Bay and I lashed out on a pair of pearl earrings .One of those impulse buys .I have never worn the bloomin' things !! I have got loads of stuff that just hangs on my charity shop jewelry mannequin and never gets worn .All the lovely rings my Mum left me won't even go over my knuckles now . I do have a bit of a penchant for brooches though and have a big collection especially seagull ones
..those lovely old vintage ones .

well Kit, I would bark and beg for that choker....its pretty!
I love having jewellery and gloating over it (not that I have loads) I don't wear it every day but love it when i go out scrubbed up.
I confess that i do have a 60 inch sting of cultured freshwater pearls. They are a soft grey pink and I love them to bits. I don't get to wear them often for real so i wear them around the house to keep them fed.

My most precious (to me) piece is a tanzanite pendant and earring set. MT DH gave me an uset stone and i designed the pendant myself, the local jeweller made it. The following year, my DDH had the stone matched and commisioned matching earrings. always feel like a million dollars when i wear it

The tanzanite seems an awesome rock, Woofy... and as for your "freshwater pearls a soft grey pink" I'm almost crying now, that's how beautiful that sounds. For many years the object of my own most feverish desires was to own a padparadscha - neat, huh. <Any of you got one lying about?>

Dawgs, I promised to tell you a bit more about the weekend. Well, after I smacked my friend on the nose we all went for a drink! We had decided on a new sky bar, All This And Heaven Too. It's on the 26th floor and in the lift we were standing next to a Brit and his Swedish mate who was teaching him to say "snog" properly. The Brit turned to me and said "I don't know what I'm saying" - but I think he did, ha ha. There was no oxygen in the bar and the music was so loud we left and went to another one - but the view was something to behold, I'll give them that.

Sunday we saw an Andy Warhol exhibition; I could have stayed much longer but at least I got to see Andy's mum making scrambled eggs (in one of the films) so I'm not complaining. Actually I enjoyed the exhibition very much. The Museum of Modern Art is located on one of Stockholm's small islands, Skeppsholmen, so as we had lunch on the deck of the museum restaurant we were intensely courted by shameless sh1tehawks as you can imagine.

Would you believe we managed to squeeze one more exhibition in. Painter Erland Cullberg is quite famous here, he suffers from schizophrenia and he's getting on a bit in years but he still said in an interview concerning this exhibition that "it feels like a beginning" - wow. This is the Maharaja
evening...are you lot still flashing your bling? tut! just because I haven't got any...well, except for me pearly boots.
I do like pearls & I've got a boxful of beads that were my mums, she always wanted some real ones...better check the beads again, just in case. That paddywhatsit is beautiful Kit.
I reckon Vinny's a bit of a medallion man...
have you seen his mouse?

well, I think it's turned right chilly & pearls don't keep you warm at night.... & who needs diamonds when you have the stars...?
....I must get that hole in the roof fixed.
I'm withshaney on this one, don't like beads and necklaces - make me feel so old, but don't like brooches either. Love rings, watches and earrings although only on dressy occasions.

Anyway can't stop, am trying to learn the Chiki chiki, which is Spain's Eurovision entry and even if it doesn't win, it's the dance we'll all be doing all summer long on the on the streets, last one I managed was the macarena, couldn't do Las Ketcup at all! I always go the wrong way compared to the others!!!
Neti I've got some algipan rub left, I reckon that your need will be greater than mine tomorrow lol.
Yesterday I shampood the living room carpet before the public health folk came and quarantined the house. Both settees are permanently covered with old sheets and dog fleece becuase that is easier than shampooing the upholstery. Anyway yesterday we looked...well if not presentable then at least clean. It has persisted down here today, flooding out my poor old tortoise, who is now bunking in a bucket on its side in the spare bedroom, and the carpet and the settees are covered in mud from the dogs forays into the garden...so tomorow out comes the shampooer again
...do you think I should wear me pearls while doing it??
Well I got some funny looks up the High Street today when I gave me pearls an airing .
Turned very chilly here ...I must sew a few sequins on my lliberty bodice ............

I did watch the vid oh ye of little faif. So death's like getting out of one car & into another? Well I hope my next one's chauffeur driven please.

neti I'm not sure you should be doing anything called Chiki chiki at your age, especially with those....those...
things...you'll have somebody's eye out.

hahaha I'm glad someone else's house looks like that woofy mine always looks as though I'm about to decorate in the winter months - the way I've felt lately it's easier to shake a sheet & throw it in the washer as you say... Chas might be little but I swear mud & muck just stick to him like a magnet. I keep telling him I'm going to put a sheep dip outside the door but paws crossed the groomer's coming in a while to clip him. Hate putting him through it but it makes life easier for me & cooler for him....anyone want to bath him?

He's really good....
..................................until you get him out!!!!
that's odd... you think you live in an English country garden (though you can forget the robins) and you look out the window and you are actually behind Niagara. My commiserations with anyone trying to keep a dog dry.
oh dear, that bad jno? it's been dry up to now but not for much longer & my ears are popping so I'd better take my tiara off, I don't want it spot welded on...

actually I've got a pair of robins at the moment...I think they're making an effort to get along for the sake of the kids...
Yummy coffee cake and erm...coffee...did anyone see Angel fallsVenezuela. on globetrecker travel channel.Well its about 8 times higher than niagara falls. It was named after an american pilot searching for gold died on the top.his surname was angel.yo
thats the end of the culture for today...back to the hoovering you lot hehe..!(:O)

...and you'll find your glasses on your forehead, jno

Dawgs, did I mention it's summer...? Yesterday Gothenburg had 23 degrees.

Oh the "pad" (the padparadscha) isn't mine, if it sounded like it, Robi. Plucked the image from the www. My jewelry is more like... leather strings with silver things, you know, fancy pup chokers, that sort of thing. But I admit to loving things of beauty (be they costly or not) guilty as charged, Vinny. <kit quickly swallows padparadscha receipt as well as padparadscha> Loved the vid too (and the Angel Falls!) So where were you all when you heard John Lennon had been shot? I was living in Malm and going to night school. The radio was on and as I was leaving for the grocery store the news came on; I walked to the grocery store like a zombie. Christmas was coming and one of the salesclerks was walking around in a ho ho ho kind of way with a basket full of gingerbread cookies for everyone to sample, I remember thinking "Haven't they heard" but I still took one - going through the motions.

Another Beatles memory, when I was a kid a pop magazine published four drawings, portraits of what the artist imagined John, Paul, George and Ringo to look like when they were... I don't remember but I'm guessing sixty-four. It was really strange to look at those drawings at the time, and it's been really strange thinking about them, later in life. No you may not go in the water Vinny, not after your sprouts or you'll get stomach cramps come out at once!

Woofy come on already, tell us if you've begun work on your novel! The competition.

urban bling Liam Clancy does it better but it's still one of my favourite songs.
Hello All Yes Vin I did watch the vid and it brought a tear to my eye me being the soft sod that I am.
Talking about bling, I'm very plain in comparison. earings I like and I have 2 chains one silver and one gold which I wear depending on which earings I have on. and that's it. No bangles or beads, boring i suppose you would say.
Not got much on this week. Usual Tai Chi visiting a few friends. Friday night there is a band called Three Wheel Drive on at my local. Have seen them many times and I like them as they are a live 3 piece band so looking forward to going.
This afternoon I am going to see a friend I used to work with. She is only 62 and is in a home. It is so sad because she may not recognise me but we are such good friends I feel I have to go and see her. It makes me count my blessings and appreciate what I have. She has a lovely husband who is devoted to her.
Well on that sad note I will say bye for take care All
