Hen Harrier

I read somewhere that one should look up now and then. Today, walking through light, mixed woodland along the edge of a field I looked up. There was a female Hen Harrier hawking along the field edge. Ignoring the dog and myself it went about its business in full view

Although they can be seen on Reserves it is quite a thrill to spot one on our patch.

Oh, hoo, Seadogg, so, so envious!!!
We get them as regular winter visitors (S Yorks & N Derbys) but we were warned not to report them for publication on the local bird club website as gamekeepers read it!
I've never seen a Hen Harrier. How lucky you are.
