For the last 20 odd years I have believed that they had legs shorter on one side because of living on a hill. Last night I was informed that I was an idiot for believing this, so is it all a lie?

'Fraid so. It's another urban myth, similar to the one perpetuated by soldiers and sailors returning from the Falklands, advising that the penguins had never seen planes before, and when the planes flew over, and the penguins looked up to follow their flight, they fell over, and patrols of soliders had to go ashore and help them back on their feet. Lots of people bleieve this even now - next time you go to a zoo, ask the pnguin keeper to 'tip' one over, and you will see that they scramble up again perfectly easily on their own!
Hehehe, you didn't believe that really did you? Did you think that the sheep had to permanently face one direction as they'd be unable to turn round? HEH!!!

Bless you, I wish I had taken you with me yesterday whilst I was driving through the Peak District and all the sheep on the roads, you could have had a good look at the length of their legs and seen that they were all the same.

The only mistake you made, Goodsoulette, was in believing this anatomical feature applied to sheep. It does, of course, relate purely to the wild hill-dwelling haggis!

Good grief! FredPuli and Incitatus! Certainly a couple of names from the distant past to conjure with in your link, Wildwood.
