Where are the ducks?

We enjoy the ducks, geese and swans in our local Hertfordshire areas but they have all disappeared recently. Is it becase of th breediong / nesting season?

It's the same here in Wiltshire, ladybarbara. The river near us is afloat with bread which the children are still throwing in for the ducks and there's hardly a bird in sight.I think it must be because of the nesting, as you say. I can see the swan sitting on a nest, but the ducks are well-hidden.
