I just wonder what would have happened if the driver had had to brake suddenly

another for the Darwin award for stupidity.
What a twit ..or words to that effect !
the dad is a wazzock of the first order.
I am divided on this.....carbon monoxide poisoning? naaah! too short oa period of exposure and not in an enclosed space.
Car breaks suddenly?...naaah! it would only have been going at 5 miles per hour.
Not to be advocated........but no big deal.
Look a bit more than 5 mph to me Sqad !

It was a stupid thing to do....period.
Some people need to get a life.

It's just a bit of fun, the father has dressed the child up in protective gear (something that would not have been done in the 5060/70's) and is driving slowly. As for the howls of Carbon monoxide, well that just shows the level of some peoples thinking thoughts through. None existent.

I'm guessing you dont or never had young children Mickey fro your comment or if you did the poor souls grew up in a very closeted environment?
Fun Dad! - even a 15 page written risk assessment wouldnt have stopped me doing that when my kids were younger - Not no risk but minimal risk.
I'm with ymb - much better than wrapping the kids in cotton wool. The chance of serious injury is probably less than letting him play conkers.
sorry think its not right, dangerous, the dad should be ashamed of himself...
While I don't view it as the most sensible thing to do, the dad said the film of it was speeded up. So I suppose he was crawling.
I wonder what mum thought?
i would have gone ballistic..
What mum thought, pasta mum was out working :-)
Given half a chance, my dad would have done that with us when me and my brothers were younger. And I'm sure that we would have loved every minute. Not saying it's right though.
it sounds worse than it looks, he appears to have been going slowly* on an off-road bit of road and stopped at the end. I don't think I'd have had my own son breathing in exhaust fumes for even that long; a face mask as well as the helmet would have been in order. But I'm not outraged.

* I think he's made up the bit about the film being speeded up, though.
It's an L200 (I have one) it has a proper 4x4 with a low ratio gearbox so it can go far slower than other cars. As for 'powerful' I dont think that is true, it is a commercial vehicle not a ponsey Chelsea tractor. Also the film appears to be on an incline meaning the sliegh would slow down if not being pulled.

//I don't think I'd have had my own son breathing in exhaust fumes for even that long;//

Fair enough, but might I suggest you never take you son anywhere near a Town or City centre and certainly not to anything fun like banger racing or trials if you are that worried.
I did take him to Oxford St on occasion, but I never plonked him 5 feet from an exhaust pipe and kept him there. Mind you, I didn't realise just how bad Oxford St was.
