I was sitting having a coffee in a cafe on the Lisburn Rd this afternoon when an old lady came over and asked did I not take a walk along Osborne Park any more. I replied that I rarely get as far as that now. She asked, You are Micheal Longley aren't you?
Apart from the fact we both have white beards I can't see much of a resemblance.

The pic looks a bit like Bill Bryson. Sandy, I always imagined you as a younger version of George Clooney.
Is that a photograph of michael Longley or the old lady?
Question Author
The old lady hadn't quite as many whiskers.
lol at sqad xx
Was Longley the gigolo man?
Question Author
Janbee, younger than George Clooney? I wish. Every day I'm edging closer to being a septuagenarien.
but young in heart
A sexygenarian Sandy xx
I can see what she means - you are very much alike.
Question Author
I wish I'd a 1/10 of his talent as a writer. And as the houses in Osborne Pk are worth close to a million a fraction of his money.
Question Author
Janbee, I had to take a few minutes away from the keyboard there until my blushes subsided. :-)
>>>I wish I'd a 1/10 of his talent as a writer

I'm extremely pleased that you haven't, Sandy!

Your posts here are always a model of clarity. If you wrote in the style of Michael Longley it would take me a week to fathom out the meaning of each post and even then I'd still be left wondering if I'd missed some subtle subtext ;-)
Did he make his money writing poems? It never struck me as a money making talent.

Question Author
Good point Wolf63. He was a teacher for a while. But he couldn't have bought a house where he lives on their money.
I saw Father Christmas shopping in Sainsbury's yesterday.

I know it was him, even thouigh he hadn't got the red suit on.
Was you wearing 'Ray Ban's' ?
Sandy, if you look like that, I'll meet you in Osborne Park tomorrow, if Gness hasn't beaten me to it!
Question Author
I am flattered now and not because someone mistook me for a famous poet
Shush, I hope she misses this, I can't handle the competition!
Ah...but you have the voice to make a man swoon....so.....handbags at dawn.....Sandy can drop the neckerchief........♥
A wee bit like Terry Pratchet?? Know he's no longer with us but think there is a bit of a similarity, but of course it could just be the beard.
