gardening , have an allotment, walking , biking, go out for days with local bus company, do sons and neighbours garden, dont know how we ever found time to work, do it and enjoy
Why they are sat around thinking of switching on the PC and checking what is going on at AB.
gardening
crosswords.
walks
visiting friends
going out for meals
visiting lonely and elderly people
doing postal quizzes.
reading books.
and most of all not having to watch the clock and be ruled by it!
I walk the dog, play badminton, go to line dancing, potter in the garden, do some voluntary work, meet friends for lunch, visit my Dad, go shopping, have beauty treatments, travel to see my family, go on holidays, read books, do crosswords and have days out. Sometimes, just sit and watch the birds. Ocassionally, I twiddle my thumbs but I never bite my nails.

I'm exhausted!
Id love to work in a charity shop but i am registered blind so ive ruled that one out, orherwise id love it.
not sure what you mean by what do we do all day. life is too busy and short to worry about finding something to do. just need many more hours in the day. now that would be useful.
Got a part time job for the beer money - excellent- no more responsibilities.
Do crosswords
Read
Decorate/DIY
Antique Fairs
Enjoy family with more time, oh, and
On AB - sometimes
You wont miss the admin @ work - but you may miss the company of your colleagues - I go back over lunch Fri about twice a month, and have a good laugh (at them).

You still have your out of work interests which take over

I am still self-employed.....

and you really do wonder how you fitted in all that work ....
as little as possible. Doing is overrrated. Being is much more fun.
oh arranging important meetings that wont wait - becomes much easier....

what is nice is not having to do things you loathe - reports by god knows when, CEOs dirty work....
In your retirement deal - remember if there is leeway to take the larger lump sum ( untaxed ) rather than a small lump sum and larger pension ( taxed )

The cross over point for me - i e how long do I have to live to get more money in total if I take the larger pension was ...... 19 years.
it's worth bearing in mind what you might want to do, though. I have known people without much of a life out of the office who have found themselves with no interests or hobbies to fill the time after they've retired.

Have you got something you'd like to devote more time to?

Thanks all. I don't have to worry about being taxed on my pension! I suppose what I mean is that I may find that my lazy side takes over! Could certainly increasewalking, biking etc, but ddifficult to know what new interests to go for.
Give it time, puzzled. Try lots of different things.
Gym, genealogy, creative writing, walking, involved in U3A where you can try lots if activities and interests. Wonder how I had time to work!
A week off this week as 2 grandchildren and a friend staying.
I have no idea of your age.
I have no idea of your sex.
I have no idea of your work and if you enjoy it.

All relevant details.

Make sure that you have enough money to live on during retirement as it is better to be working and coping financially than being retired and worrying about finance. Expenditure during working years may well be capable of being made up, but when you are retired, it is never replenished.

The novelty of retirement soon wears off.

Good luck.
O Sqad - mr Grumpy today, arent we ?

I have no idea of your age.
I have no idea of your sex.
I have no idea of your work and if you enjoy it.

heavens S - you'll want to look up my b+ttom, next !

Go out to your club and have a saurday morning drinkie for chrissakes
PP...I thought my post was relevant......clearly not.
Im not looking forward to retirement, I enjoy my life and my work as it is. Maybe as I get nearer that age I will think differently.
Sqad, you didn't answer his/her question, she/he didn't want a diagnosis.
