Cat mating

Is there a time of year for this? Is there an organized series of events where lots of cats get together? Do the females get so annoyed that they make sounds like they're dying? All happened at my house last night, 3 toms, 3 girls. Toms are scared stiff of me, but last night they were going nowhere, even with me around. Lots of moaoaoaoaws going on. What's the story?

This is a very typical time for cat orgies.  I don't know why the girls go though as I've heard that a cat's willy has little hooks on it* - you'd moaoaoaoaw too.

* this could be an urban myth - but apparently is why they sometimes get stuck.

i've heard that it takes the tom two days to recover but the female is more than keen within minutes!  And that each kitten can have a different father!  When they are in season, the queen will do virtually ANYTHING to encourage the male.

These aint in season! I never saw such grumpy faces! I call them over for milk and they give me that 'not you as well' look..

The girls are fed up. They hardly approach me, and a couple of the toms have 'hooked up' with one of them and follow her everywhere she goes. And they're huge! Look like some domestic short hair bred with a wild cat. And the scent marking! Stop this now!

i'm not so sure about the males penis having hooks but maybe as with dogs the end swells preventing it from being pulled out (without pain of course for both) anyhow the noise is probably the males competing i saw one of our female cats have like 7 male followers so u can imagine the row they could make !

Funny, heard that for the first time today. One tom was going nuts when another approached, kind of belly spasms and that deep annoyed growl. It's getting scary!

No - it's not an urban myth - the tomcat's penis has barbs on it.  And dogs don't - it's a combination of ligamentous structures that restrict venous drainage in the dog and muscles in the bitch which contract during mating that contribute to the 'tie'.
