Gaining Not Losing

I've just started getting into serious exercising over the last couple months. The scale would not budge a millimetre, and all of a sudden I've gained 5 pounds!!!! It is normal to gain weight before losing it?? I'm going crazy!!!

I gained and lost weight when I started at the gym but not that drastically! 5 pounds is a lot....hmmm. What have you been doing differently?
Muscle weights more than fat.. if you are putting on muscle you won't 'loose weight', you will tone up and look better...
I got rid of my scales. Go by your clothes!
you need to make sure that you are not doing the excercise and then eating more after. if you want to loose weight you will need to limit your calorie intake as well as doing significant (not too excessive though) excercise.
