I think all advertising for holidays to Portugal should be banned. How can anyone trust a country whose police has handled this case in such a messy way? I would defiantly not be taking my family there again. I also think that rich personalities like Sir Cliff Richard who lives there should uproot and move to a country that would spend the tax that he pays on his vineyards etc. On a better police force.

I have also decided that because I have now got the hump with Sir Cliff Richard, I will try and sell all the records that I have him and send any money that I receive to Madeleine's fund. If I can't sell them I know just the place for them on the 5th November!

Smudge- Are you suggesting that the worlds news papers and television news reports are telling porkys regarding the way that Portuguese police has handles this case?
So, if we were to go with your theory Totter, we shouldn't visit Greece as Ben Needham was abducted there 16 years ago - in your eyes, surely if the police were doing their job, he'd have been found by now? We shouldn't visit China as 70,000 children are abducted there each year, whoa, that is a lot. So, cross that one off my list.....

Johannesburg is allegedly the "most dangerous" city in the world, so that discounts South Africa. Well, let's face it, if the police were doing their job right, it wouldn't be dangerous would it?

Ibiza is rife with drugs, so I must scratch the Balearics off my list, because if the police were worth their salt there then the island would be clean.

What about Eastbourne? Would you reccommend I went there?
And I take umbrage at your attacks on me here Totter, have I naffed you off in a previous lifetime or something?
wow! third nite on here and its all agression and petty squables, does anyone know any more nicer sites? x
Totter you seem to be having a go at people that have been on for quite a while. Just because you are new does not give you the right to mouth off at people. This subject of Madeline has been debated on here for weeks so you are not coming up with anything new.
yes try exochat .com or dafties .r.us

Totter- please read my answer again.

You will see that I didn't say anyone was telling porkies, I was merely saying that you shouldn't stay away from a country just because of what you may read in the papers or see on the telly!

Also that it's up to the individual to decide whether they would wish to go back to a country after they've visited it - personal experiences & all that.

In a nutshell, you shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush just because of the actions of others.
Anyway, I've been watching telly & only popped in to switch my pc off - so nite nite all.

natalie_1982- If more went with my theory certain countries that you have mentioned would not be able to exist as they do now without tourism. By doing everything possible to make these islands and counties better policed together with updated intelligence agencies a safer environment would have to be beneficial for all and the only way to do this is for these individual countries is to invest for a safer future and learn from the past!

Regarding Eastbourne why ask me? Surly you must have some intelligence; try contacting the bloody Eastbourne Tourist Information. My only concern is the safety of people.

Ethel- I have never been to Barbados so please accept my apologies, I was unaware that this sick partaking in such vile acts with children was so rampant there.
I guess that you are out there all the time considering that you have so much close knowledge of this, as you say, haven!
Question Author
Wendilla- I though that this site was about questions and answers, the fact that Im new to this site should not restrict me from answering these questions with my point of view! Even if the subject has been debated here for weeks. I am not intentionally trying, as you say, coming up with something new.

Does it give you the right to mouth off about me just because youve been a member for longer than me? (What an immature remark!)

P.S. If its just the fact that you think that Im having a go at people that have used this site for longer that me, you have just given me the impression that youre just a clicky load of boring snobs that should get out more!.
I've only been here a fortnight and certainly am no member of any clique.

I just find your point of view staggering and I would think the same whether I was an old or new member.
I still go back to my original question - which country do you think have a perfect police force and therefore you think it is permissible to advertise / visit as a tourist destination.

You seem to think people are having a go at you. They are not. Everyone is entitled to an opinion - but of course when you have an opinion that is very 'strange' (and I use that term as despite the broad spectrum of people on this site I haven't seen anyone agreeing with your opinion), you should be prepared to defend that opinion.
Trip trap, trip trap

child abduction happens in every country - where are going holiday?
Anybody who does not believe that paedophiles are in every country and race is naive in the extreme.

Compared to many countries the Portugese police are models of excellence.

Look at the positives - many many locals have been extremely supportive of the McCanns. Some countries would have tried to hush it up.

Ethel- (and co.) If you were to give yourself time to read my original post regarding the handling of Madeleine's case by the Portuguese police, in which everyone is entitled to their own opinion you may have some idea what my gripe is however you just dont get it do you!

What worries me now Ethel is you! You keep banging on about paedophiles as though you have some kind of fixation with them! (Creepy- Sick)
Ethel is hardly "banging on about it". From what I can see, she posted a link to bad things in Barbados as you said that was ok to visit. Then mentioned that paedophillia happens in every country which is one of the options that Maddy could be in.

Hardly a fixation.
