Someone my husband and I used to know has just phoned up and said he had found our details on the internet including our email address. Where could he have found that from - quite scary!
Unfortunately, people who send emails to a large group of acquaintances often put all email addresses in the address line. This means that all recipients can see all other recipients' addresses. You can avoid this by sending the email to yourself and putting all the addressees in the "Blind" copy line. Lots of people know this, but it seems lots of people don't. But should.
I intend to ask him when we meet up next week, my husband answered the phone and just relayed this to me after they had spoken. I know you can find names and addresses from electoral rolls (by purchasing credits) but email addresses????

Yes this is what maybe happened from years ago ...... I will remember this good advice thanks!
Hi BOO, that Chinese we went to in Crawshawbooth!! never again, 7 of us including drinks ( & not that much) £260, No, I'm not joking, it was far cheaper in Padiham, we should have gone there.
I keep getting the same, "Delete" that's my answer if you do not know the person's, we have been getting a few friendly phone calls from our cousins in Africa, they don't seem to know what f-- off means,
I don't see it as a threat either Madmen, not sure whether there's a hidden risk I can't see here?
If I get an email, and it looks iffy,it just gets deleted straight away, couldn't care less who has it to be honest, if it gets too hairy you just get another don't you?I've had one particular email address for over 10 years, given it how to christ knows how many folks, not had a problem yet.
Here Ann if they only know your email address there's not really a lot they can do - its when they know where you work and your real name you have to start to worry.
I have been signed up to all sorts of websites - its frightening what some people will do!
