Password reset

I have taken my laptop abroad and foolishly forgotten the initial password to access my Windows 7 desktop.I have no access to a backup disk; anyone got any suggestions?

if my laptop should get stolen and has of course a password on it to start up if the hard drive is removed can't that not be read on another comp if plugged or would my password stop that,...
