Engine Query

Can any one help! I own a diesel volvo and have noticed on harsh acceleration a lot of smoke from the exhaust plus the engine is kind of jerky while accelerating. Sorry if this is a little basic!!

Misfire

Any suggestions on how to rectify a misfire on a 2.4 Volvo Diesel. II've tried a diesel injector cleaner ) Or is it a dreaded main dealer job!!!

somehow i had in my mind that our mot was due later this year,now i've found it,it was due in march! What does this mean? Of course i'll take it to get mot'd asap,will i get in trouble?
