iMac+internet

Old G3 pMac with USB ADSL modem fine, New G5 iMac with ethernet so get new router/modem. Same ISP (Tiscali) so why can't I connect? Sick to death of useless helplines! Do these people get paid? If so...

FAO fo3nix unfortunately its really old - no CD writer, but do have zip drive, can I use that to transfer?
