I know that zero hours contracts can work for some people in very specific circumstances. Unfortunately they are increasingly being abused by companies trying to circumvent certain employment laws.

You've tried to excuse slavery and to justify it. If you understand it as you claim you do then shame on you. This compounds your efforts. What are you thinking?
Question Author
No, I am not justifying it at all.
The message in the Bible did not preach rebellion against slavery, but a new relationship with God, regardless of ones station.
Same holds true today.

You've now admitted publicly that the bible fails to condemn slavery. You've accepted that your very own Prophet, Jesus Christ, fails to condemn slavery. Jesus was complicit in slavery and he saw nothing wrong in its practice.

Thank you.
Anyone would think that religion was dreamed up as a sop to keep slaves, who would, otherwise, be perpetually miserable, full of hope and happy and productive.

Hmm, that vid might be unavailable to US members.

Also, forgot to get across my point that religion is therefore a tool for oligarchs, property owners and those who will not let a small debt go unexploited.

Bonded labour is still widedpread in parts of India and they even charge interest such that the worker has no hope of paying off the debt in their own lifetime and even their children may have to take on the work to pay their share of 'inherited' debt.

If you have rules and regulations about it (eg Mosaic laws) then you tacitly approve of it. A blanket ban on it does not require so much verbeage.
