I used to have a pylon at the back of garden, not the prettiest sight. I was glad when our cables were put underground.

Apparently some people would not agree with me.

Is this hobby on a par with train spotting?

Hi Marval, don't like them either but think wind turbines are lovely
Used to like climbing them as a kid.
Trainspotting was great when there were proper trains, that had locomotives with individual numbers and different' classes '.
Many happy days were spent trying to check off the last A4 Pacific or get all the 'Deltics'.

I don't particularly like wind turbines either.
What would you rather have marval ? A few wind turbines on top of the hills or a coal fired power station belching out smoke ? Or perhaps a nice nuclear
power station ?

Where do you expect the lecky to come from when you get in every night and turn the light switch on ?
Wind turbines should have psychedelic paint jobs, long coloured ribbons and multi coloured flashing lights
Steg....Wind turbines could have wisteria and Clematis ‘Nelly Moser’ trained up 'em and the nimbies still wouldn't like them !
Question Author
Well, I would rather have wind turbines than the alternatives mikey. I suppose they are better, not sure about flashing lights though steg.
The reality here is that we need a range of different power generating systems, including clean-coal technology.

Perhaps we could just light them up for Xmas Steg !
Mickey......it takes more than a 'few' wind turbines to replace a power station...a 1.6 GW station would require 1100..rotating high output wind turbines. Can we put you down for a few?
I can see plenty from my bedroom window Brighty !
How many Mickey .....and are they whirring?
Lots and no, not this morning !
Very expensive, useless, bits of kit then!...Clematis clad or not.
Well....its smoky, polluting power stations all round then isn't it Brighty !
No they will be nuclear......if you want a reliable energy source.Unless you have a better idea.
Brighty....actually I am a big fan of nuclear and have been since I was a boy and had a tour of Hinkley Point in Somerset, where I used to live in the 60's.

The problem that we have with nuclear here in Britain, and this isn't a party-political point, is that we seem to want them and need them but no Government is prepared to bite the ruddy bullet and build them ! Look at all the faffing around over Hinkley Point C !

By the time this is built and running ( if ever it will be ) we will be in grave danger of having our lights going out.

We need to stop mucking about and get building !
