Sometimes twice a month I work with the most irritating man I have ever met in my life in the Credit Union. He has been there years (don't know what his job is - is a voluntary worker - about 74years old) I don't know why he comes in. He walks about - lifting money from your drawer - last night he had me so confused - I was with a customer who wanted to spend ~£80 out a £200 cheque. He's listening to this - presents me with £200 sterling from another colleague. From there I was lost - who owned the bloody money - how was I going to do the transaction - plus I was embarrassed. Don't get me wrong the whole of the Credit Union agree re this guy. Apparently he is murder on a Friday night - just meddles and meddles - you want to sweam and sweam and go for his jugular.

Hi, Conne......could you not "accidentally" lock him in the loo for the evening?..... ☺
If each teller/cashier has to balance the money in and out of their drawer, then his meddling is indeed a pain.

Have you a direct overseer you can ask?

Don't think he pi$$es too much as he wants to keep an eye on things - he truly is unbelievable. I bless myself as I walk into Credit Union - please don't be on tonight. When he farts around you he makes you very nervous when you are doing your business. I have been on manys a night over the years where he has had many rows with other colleagues re his meddling. (Murder she wrote). I try my utmost best to be a nice wee girl LOL but it is hard.

Mamy - he thinks he is our overseer and cos he has been in so long nobody sorta would challenge him. Powerful size too 6 foot 5 I guess. Next time he touches my till I am going to slam it - and hard too.
Or ask him to sign to the fact your till doesn't balance because he messed with the amounts.

That way he is culpable.
Are there no rules that you can quote at him? There should be written policies and procedures if you are responsible for cash.

Oh Mamy that has come up - I believe it happens very frequently on a Friday night - there is a woman "wee XXXXXX" - another colleague told me he confuses her so much at the end of the night - he takes her money - counts it out - maybe it is wrong maybe it is right - all has to be counted again and maybe again - then "wee XXXX" gets upset and flustered. I think he gets a bit of a vibe from me - "please do NOT HELP me".

It is very hard to explain here but years ago he was an important member of the CU - then he left for years and came back but has one hell of an ego - so you couldn't cut him off with a knife. I truly like my nights to go off on an even keel. I definitely wouldn't challenge him - I just take deep breaths or drink loads of water.

Anyway thanks for the wee natter.
