Thanks. Why are these answers easy when you know them?

Sorry Cheaton I missed your previous reply, I thought you had gone to bed (or to the pub!). I wish I had never started this crossword - I am not with the setter at all, but having done most of it I have to finish it.

I'm off myself now Cheers K
Argee, the pub or bed would be preferable but sadly neither! Now got Dewsbury for the town....and just off to see whether I can get the last few clues, will keep you posted in the morning.... I must have an addictive personality!

I think 27 down is wag; wage=carry on (mainly). This gives gutted (as in hung drawn and quartered!)

The only one I am not sure of is 16 down is it lei? But I don't know why.

Sorry for presuming you were a bloke, I don't know why because I am a she (is that grammatical?) Too late to bother now.

of course, wag not wit!

Lei = some sort of currency, prob. Bulgarian but now forgotten! and thanks for gutted too....

Don't know why we think someone is male or female - obviously wrongly, so goodnight sister!
