Just put phone down to a family member who was telling me about his recent haulage trip to France.
He got into a nine hour queue for the channel tunnel at Calais.
While waiting he said a man banged on the truck door and he wound windows down. "Hey Englishman ...Want to earn some money ? I will give you 5000 Euro to take 5 illegals in back of your truck to England. "
Of course he refused. But his is when things went down hill....
As he got closer to Calais in the truck queue he said the illegals started banging on the truck doors. He kept the truck doors locked and windows done up. They could not get into back of truck because it was locked up.
However he saw some trying to get into a Polish refrigerated truck in front , but failed. He then saw one of the illegals climb under the trailer and perch on top of the trailer axles. He could not get of truck to warn the Polish driver, because he said there were thousands of illegals and it was frightening. They were fighting amongst themselves also. He said a lot of them had mobile phones and were tipping each other off.
Anyway when the trucks got into the security area , he got out and asked the Polish driver to check under his trailer. He did and spotted the illegal on top of the axle. They called the French police over and they removed him ...kicked him up the bum until he got to security van and was drive off.
Train now arrived in England and they are delayed removing trucks because ....drum roll ...illegal stowaways found on train.
He watched them being removed ans they were all smiling because they had made it to England.
What a mess !

Oh and Mrs Mays 3 mile zone at Calais ....too small. It will hold 450 trucks , that's about a couple of hours worth of arrivals.

I really feel for the plight of the truckers of today, as if their job wasn't tough enough.
What is this world coming to ? years ago my cousin and her hubby, used to go to France, regularly, with a motorbike club that they belonged to they were even toying with the idea of buying a property over there, glad now that they didn't, if the people that were paid to monitor the situation were doing the job that they were supposed to be doing it wouldn't be so bad, but, the open borders situation should now be stopped, close the door, no more entries till all this is sorted out, what do you think ? and I am NOT racist, just fed up with what is happening to our country.
Me and the memshaib are off to France on holibags a week on Friday and know we'll see something of this, just hope we can avoid the worst of it..... oh yeah... I;m taking a big stick too. ;0)

slapshot - I went through Calais at end of May and Early June and to be honest I only saw three illegals on way to UK via Calais. However it was raining and we drove non stop into the Ferry port.
However on way back we just missed a riot in Calais. I drove into Calais to fill up with cheap French diesel and saw 100's of illegals hanging about the town. Three hours after we left I read in papers about a riot kicking off.
We now live in Switzerland and I have just returned from a week away on Viaraggio , visiting Pisa and Florence. In all the main Italians towns they have lots of "lookie lookie men" selling designer handbags for 20 Euro and other tat. They however were o.k. and scrapping a living. One was shocked by me , when I approached him and asked to buy something :-)
(A car sunscreen - it was hitting 100f most days and inside of car was cooking while left parked).

All those tens of thousands that are arriving in Italy and Greece will make there way to Calais. So we have not seen anything yet and the French police at Calais can't cope.
