Apparently the BBC employs over 7,500 people to work in their news division.

I can’t see why they need so many, when much of the BBC news I watch, consists of the reporter reading articles out of that day’s newspapers; or are they including those employed by the papers?

///BBC News is a respected news source all over the world. Whenever a major story breaks, I for one will go to the BBC News website, because I can be certain that the reporting will be accurate and detailed.///

Funniest thing you've said on here, Sp. Or does Nick Davies get the blame.

Okay.
Why am I not surprised that the predominantly Right Wing Ab population once again attacks the BBC. They're annoyed that it is the only major media outlet that refuses to peddle their pernicious propaganda.
Canary, never let it be said that whilst saying nothing that adds to any discussion here you ever miss an opportunity to wield the knife. I haven’t attacked the BBC, although have I to say that during the recent election Nick Robinson offered some of the most pernicious items of propaganda I have ever heard – but I expect that’s alright in your book. My main bugbear with the BBC is the lovely Fiona Bruce’s awful jackets!
Canary...I agree with you 100%. The Beeb is the best broadcasting company in the world as far as I am concerned, and we should be very glad we have it. As I have said in the past, right-wingers on here only complain when they realise that the BBC doesn't have its lips firmly attached to the buttocks of the Tory Party, like the Daily Mail and Telegraph. If the BBC criticise anything that the Tories do or say, then it must be because they are left-wing, not because the Tories deserve it.

Channel Four News comes a good second though...love those socks and ties !
I'm not complaining - but I'm honest enough to acknowledge bias when I see it - and I saw that during the run up to the election. Shock horror!! It didn't work. Hey ho. ;o)
//Beeb is the best broadcasting company in the world as far as I am concerned//

really?

in evidence against that, i offer their latest "game show" - Prized Apart. OMG, who on earth thought that was a good idea?
Mush...no doubt about it whatsoever....the Beeb has to cater for all tastes.
mushroom, is that the one where poor, starving people are made to fight each other for crusts?
Probably got the idea from the 'tramp fights' that sadists staged in the US.
I love the BBC - even though it is, without doubt, politically biased – but considering it’s publicly funded it would be, wouldn’t it. The range of services, programmes, and information the BBC offers is without equal anywhere in the world.
Then you wont mind paying for it via subscription, Naomi.
Svejk, you're right. I won't mind at all.
Me neither.
