If you sign for a private rented property but the faults are not repaired before you move in they have been brought to the attention of estate agent who has spoken to landlord if they are not done would a tenant be liable for damage or could they withdraw from the contract as moving in would cause more problems to the flooring also it would mean redoing the flooring which making the agreed moving in date delayed while work is done
We were told to check inventory and report problems to agent after signing contract there has been new wood flooring laid but this is lifting as it has not been fitted corectly it will have to be relaid hence we cannot move in till this is done delaying our moving date the landlord has been informed if she does not put right where do we stand as putting furniture on said flooring will casuse more damage
No you are right about flooring by moving in and putting furniture on top more damage will occur but it has delayed our moving in date and we have paid all fees as required and months rent in advance so we are losing out but if landlord refuses do we have rights to pill out of tenancy or letter saying we are not going to be held responsible for flooring
Thank you for the replays hopefully things can be sorted as the inventory says new flooring with no problems of course this is not correct I am hoping if they do not correct flooring I will have some form of disclaimer as I'm not prepared to take responsibility when it breaks I of not I might have to pull out of contract as any further damage I could not afford
Have you taken photos? - that might help in the case of later dispute, as the photos will have a date stamp on them, and will show the state of the place before you moved in.
We have taken photo s of all negative things also will be handing our paperwork list of faults to agent tomorrow but its based to show the floor lifting x
