I've got a little problem. I received a phone call (an hour ago) from the hospital saying that the machine was faulty again.

I've just had a full meal and 5 minutes ago I just got another call from the hospital saying that the machine is now working. The scan is in 3 hours and I need to have an empty stomach.

I've put this in chatterbank because I expect some crazy replies and it wouldn't be appropriate in B&S.

I do have prep that I used for my colonoscopy, will that help at all or will it just empty my colon?

As hard as it seems, this is a genuine question.

The MRI is for a scan on my left flank (abdominal). Do you think it will make any difference?
Why not ring the hospital back and ask them Dizmo
Question Author
Because if I mention that I've eaten they will cancel it.

I need the MRI results before the 19th.
I would phone and explain things lest you waste your and their time by turning up
Can you make yourself sick? try drinking some salty water or put your fingers down the back of your throat?
Did the hospital specifically say your appointment was cancelled?
It is very expensive to run an MRI so it really would be best if you tell them you have eaten. If they scan you and there is food in the stomach or waste in the intestines then it will not give a true result anyway and will have to be done again.

I'm going to struggle making myself sick. I'm on 2 anti emetics. I can try I suppose. Surely the MRI is purely for the purpose of scanning the cyst, not my stomach.
The stomach will be empty in three hours.

Just go.

I'm setting off now.
"Because if I mention that I've eaten they will cancel it."
not much point in rocking up for an appointment if you are not in hte state they need you to be, and the procedure results are skewed
Question Author
I spoke to them. They are fine with it. Apparently I'm having 2 scans so the time is longer anyway. I'm at the hospital now.
Cool and good luck x

You know you've been here too many times when you know where all the toilets are in the entire hospital.
