Hi there, a young girl has just moved into my complex, and she's causing me a bit of trouble! I feel a bit mean because I think she's got mild learning difficulties but she just won't leave me alone! She knocks on the door to ask for silly things like the time, a pen? And I've tried ignoring her but she still does it, sometimes early hours of the morning. I even said to her that she can't be knocking on my door all the time but nothing works! Every time I go out/come in she rushes to meet me in the hall but she just stands there. She watches out the window for when I come home from work and just recently she's started taking my post so she has an excuse to knock on the door. I don't know how to deal with it as it's obvious she has some difficulties but she's living on her own and I just want to keep myself to myself! Any advice is appreciated

My wife works in the community. She pops in weekly, fortnightly or monthly. This can be the highlight of these people's life. I read of people that have not spoken to someone for day's and sometimes weeks.

Hi all thanks for your advice. So far I've tried approaching it in different ways, I've ignored the door but she doesn't give up! And I have a spy hole in my door and she will stand there for about half an hour before going back into her flat. I've spoke to her but it all gets worse when I do! I've told her she cant be knocking on my door all the time but it makes no difference. She's started coming round the back of my flat and hanging about near my windows. Its making me feel so uncomfortable. I didn't want her to know if I've got in touch with someone about it as I'm not sure how she will react, and she will probably know I've said something as I'm the only one she's latched onto.
Es, after what has been advised, in a discrete way, try & find out who her Social worker is then contact them with your concerns & your comfort zone, although its not right the person may not understand she is doing no wrong, Good Luck with this issue. x
