I have a new Phillips monitor with my computer and, like most new things, here are a few changes to get use to. When I switch on, the icons which I normally have arranged some on the right and some on the left of the screen have all moved to the left side and I have to start by sorting them out again. What do I do please to stop this happening?
That's weird! (I assume that it's to do with a change of resolution).
You've not said which version of Windows you're using but, with most of them, the solution can probably be found by right-clicking on the desktop and checking, or unchecking, particular properties. (e.g. if 'Auto arrange' is selected, deselect it). So some experimentation might be in order.
Thanks for your answers. Sorry I omitted to say Windows 7. I've experimented by right clicking the desktop. There was no tick to remove from 'Auto arrange icons'. For some reason I don't know the icons do now stay where I put them, after switching of and back on again. I wish I knew the answer to pass it on - but it's a mystery!
After you have right clicked in blank space on desktop and opened 'View' make sure that a tick is put alongside 'Align to Grid'. Reboot, and all should be well.
