it can be done as lots of people have it done..the hairdresser should use a strong bleach solution...she is probably a bit worried about your hair breaking if its allready black..it may not be in wonderfull condition...my daughter has really dark brown hair and she has used a high lighting kit from superdrug and left it on a bit longer and its taken allright...allthough the highlights are a light copper not really blonde..

Hi,

if your hairdresser doesn't think it's a good idea, I wouldn't do it.

I went to my hairdressers yesterday and the girl next to me had wanted to have her dark hair changed to blonde for years. Our hairdresser wouldn't do it for her as she said it would not suit her. So she went to someone else, who did it for her. Needless to say she was on the telephone to our hairdresser asking for help to sort it out. She had to come in and have it dyed back to her normal colour. Hairdressers usually know what will suit or not suit someone, so i'd take their advice.

If you try to do it yourself, it might go green because of the chemicals, or a khaki colour, so don't take the risk. Try to find out why your hairdresser won't do it, it might be because of the difficulty in changing the colour so drastically or it might be because it just won't suit you, how ever it is up to you what colour you want to be. You might have to wait until the colour grows out (usually about an inch a month, quicker in summer) and have it cut shorter to cut off those dyed black ends.
Hi, im a trainee hairdresser, and i'd advise you to wai ta while before choosing something like this. It needs to be something u reli want. If u do it with a high peroxide level its going to damage your hair, and also there is no guarentee that it's going to turn blonde, in kost cases it will turn ginger/copper. The best thing to do would to have a strand test done at your local hairdresser.
I have blonde and red highlights in my hair which is also dyed brown to cover the grey. It was my hairdressers idea though to have this done and I really like it. Maybe if your hair wasn't dyed black but a lighter colour they would do it for you? Ask your hairdresser why they won't do it, they may have a good reason.
maybe your hairdresser quite likes you and no offence to badgers, but maybe she doesn't want you to look like one
hi. ive got blonde hair and a couple of years ago had the underneath black. when i wanted it blonde again it took about 2/3 goes before it was a nice blonde. it went a copper colour first. it takes a while to lift. but my hairdresser done it no problem.i wouldnt do it yourself though!
I have had this problem aswell .i recently dyed my hair black and hated it ,what i done and found it worked quite well is to lighten it bit by bit then u can get bk to blonde. What i done is lightend it slightly by putting light/dark brown streaks through.then when your hair is light enough try going back to blonde.
Hope this has helped you ,
