Hi shaney, I'm ok thanks, how are you?
I was disappointed with the last Shardlake so I was going to get it through the library too. Lets hope the new one is as goods his first ones
I'm fine Rosetta, thank you .Nice to see you again .
I hope the new one is good and I agree with jomifl that Winter in Madrid is a wonderful book .I enjoyed it very much although I found Dominion a bit far fetched .
I've recently been reading the Montalbano books by Andrea Camilleri and have got into Alan Furst .I love a good spy novel .
Shaney, before I read 'winter in madrid' I had visited Cuenca (worth a visit if you are in the area) where some of the action takes place so the story seemed more real than it might have otherwise. The iron footbridge across the gorge can be seen at 36 seconds in the video.
My best reads...
Currently reading The Girl With The Glass Feet by Ali Shaw
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell...soon to be a BBC series...18th c magicians...a BIG read
Anything by Tracey Chevalier...historical novels
The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey...magical
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd...1964-South Carolin-a motherless girl runs away from her cruel father...her companion the black woman who raised her...heartwarming
Wonder by RJ Palaccio...an unusual boy makes sense of growing up.
Take Me Home by Daniela Sacerdoti...time slip romance.
That's very interesting jomifl ...it was such a lovely book and that clip reminds me of how much I enjoyed it .When I got to the end I have to admit I was a bit tearful. It was powerful stuff .I rarely get emotional over a book but that hit the spot along with A Thousand Splendid Suns, which blew me away.
