Occasionally, when closing my Internet browser (IE6) or Outlook Express, I get a screen message saying 'msimn.exe-application error. The instruction at '0x77f83aed' referenced memory at '0x00964818'. The memory could not be 'written'. Click on OK to terminate the program.' Everything seems to work OK despite the failure to carry out this seemingly important function, but what the hell does it mean?

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ download stinger and check for a virus. Free AV http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php Are you a Freeserve user?
Don't think this will be a virus - its simply a programming error I think. Maybe worth going the microsoft site and downloading the latest IE patches. Also found a microsoft knowledgebase article on a bug affecting msimn - but not sure it is the same problem :

I'm sure it's not a virus because I have anti-virus software which I update and run regularly. I am a Freeserve user though, powerless. Do you know something I don't?
The reason i say virus is that there is a virus that creates that message. Freeserve - I've seen a few problems related to the message you are getting and it seems to affect FS users.
