You have me on your side when it comes to religion, but I am not sure why you have been taken in by Von Daniken ? I take it you don't agree with Carl Sagan then ? Most people recognise that VD is a charlatan. And I did read "Chariots of the Gods" when I was a teenager, on a beach in Greece and it was obvious even then that he was either a confidence trickster, or seriously deranged. I am still undecided but am edging towards the con man, as most people I associate with see him.

That said, firstly, I don’t take ‘sides’ – I have no desire to sycophantically curry favour with anyone - and secondly, I don’t “tear into theists” – I criticise their philosophy with constructive argument. As for Von Daniken, I said several times on the other thread that I really don’t care what he is or was, or what anyone’s perceptions of him are – I am interested only in his fundamental hypothesis – but you’re clearly still not listening.

Whilst, that explanation may be one for the shortlist it doesn't really fit the 'bolt of lightning' seen travelling upwards on approaching the area....

Still early days of course before any possible definitive answer (if one is likely).
