The reason why it is on both Beeb1 and ITV is that fans can watch the match in stereo.
Dt, please don't confuse me any further...x
When ITV was set up all those years ago, part of their contract said that they could not put on a piece in direct competition with BBC. How times have changed. Usually for the worst.

Nothing decent on the other channels because the advert revenue isn't there during 'big' events such as the world cup.
reason on both channels ............they foolishly thought England would be playing in it
ooft......................
I don't mind Adrian Chiles but can't stand Tyldesley and Townsend so it was BBC for me last night. Mind you, two minutes of Lawrenson prattling on about Argentine takeaways had me listening to the 5 Live feed on the Red Button instead.
I watched the game on ITV I prefer their commentary however half time etc... Over to the MOTD crew.

There is always the option of doing something else, rather than watching or ignoring football on either channel :)

I watched it on the BBC, but forgot about the 5 live commentary - so I had to put up with whoever those two were.

I'm pretty sure it used to be that the BBC was fair good, and ITV was terrible for commentary - what's happened? They're both rubbish, except one has ads.

Good game from the Germans though. I did feel sorry for Messi however.

I did not feel sorry for messi at all. he played rubbish last night.
Ditto arksided, I watched the ITV match commentary, but switched over whenever there was a danger of Chiles appearing.
Some info re Viewing Figures.

The BBC's coverage drew a bigger audience, averaging 12.1 million viewers and peaking with 16.7 million during the match's final five minutes.

ITV averaged 2.9 million viewers, peaking at 3.9 million in the last 10 minutes before the 90-minute whistle.
