Now from another thread, ( Baghadad Battery etc )
Deng Shaiao Ping famously commented - it doesnt matter what colour the cat is, if it is dead..... whereas if it were alive......
-- answer removed --
If he wants to post an unnecessary question he's probably black otherwise it'll be ginger- they're always trouble causers:)
It was every colour, until you looked.
I'm uncertain.
Whatever colour it wants to be?
The cat was no colour, because it was a thought experiment.
A linear superposition of all possible colours -- so probably Black on average.
That makes it white, Jim.
Question Author
I think white is right, heathfield, if we are talking about light, but if it were talking about paints I think the answer may be black.
I had White initially but then that's light where the colours mix to give white, and for fur/ pigmentation/ paints etc, mixing colours together would tend towards black. Or perhaps an ugly sort of muddy brown.
Two-tone?
Surely the colour of Schrödinger's cat would be the colour of the cat owned by Mr Schrödinger?
It's all in the eye of the beholder (i.e. everyone will percieve a different colour.)
Surely, some eighty years on, any question concerning some former state of Schrödinger's cat must be a purely rhetorical question?
Surely a question with answers is not rhetorical?
half black, half white. Half dead, half alive.
He was a ginger moggy. At least, he was in the picture in my textbook, and textbooks never lie (although the cat was definitely lying down, and alive come to that...)
