70 years on and most of the brave men that were at hell on earth about this time (7:20 on) are getting too old to travel.

I'd like to say a very big thank you to them and the thousands that lost their lives braving the elements and the Germans.

Thank you Gents, I will never forget.

Indeed, a massive debt owed to them by everyone. xx
Yes I absolutely echo that.
I agree with that. However it seems the Queen has forgotten sending prince Charles instead she should have been there.

So, gordie, it's ok for the Veterans to be 'too old' to travel, but The Queen who is a similar age to them should travel, is that correct?

I echo the thanks given in the OP, to those very brave guys!
The Queen is their geordie, you stike out out there mate!
Watching it live on Sky News. Have to say I'm frankly amazed at the amount of veterans and those paying respect at Colleville-Sur-Mer, it is astonishing and very humbling.
We must never forget. x
well said
Bless them all xxx
gordie - what IS your problem with the Queen ??
Yes ymb this is something we can agree on at least.
The ultimate sacrifice paid by so many - lots of whom knew they were facing almost certain death, to change history for the benefit of later generations.
Humbling indeed
