Help : (
I bought my son a KOBO tablet from WHSmiths 16 months ago. The screen has cracked and I knew I would have to pay to repair it as its over the 12 month warranty which is fine. I spoke to KOBO on the phone and they asked me to send photos of the damage so they could advise how best to proceed. They have then emailed me saying it is cracked( yes I know that!) and its out of warranty so they cant help or repair. Ive replied saying I know that and im happy to pay but they just keep sending me the same email saying there is no way of repairing it or replacing the screen. I find that very hard to believe. They are basically saying that once the screen has cracked then tough luck. Anybody got any bright ideas?? TIA xx

Update - KOBO do not have a repair centre. How stupid is that???
Save yourself time and hassle... you can probably pick up another one (maybe even a used one off ebay) for close to what the replacement screen repair would cost.
lost my submission - just briefly - my friend's grandson screen was broken for over for a year - they got fixed for him in time for xmas and of course bought him a new PS4. JJCon

hello Smowball

i'm not sure if this is helpful, but i have seen small independent pc shops that offer to fix gadgets that have malfunctioned - often they have claimed to be able to repair cracked tablet & mobile screens

i have also seen stalls on markets offering screen repairs too

Ive taken it into a local repair place who say they cant get a screen for it. I just don't understand - its a basic touchscreen. im so cross!!
That's ridiculous isn't it, if the other tablet manufacturers can sort out new screens you'd think this lot would be able to. They probably hope you'll go out and buy a new one!

Ive looked on Ebay and there is nothing there either . So basically if you break a KOBO in any way shape or form then you have to just chuck it away!! How bloody stupid - I would never have bought it in the 1st place had I known that. Surely somebody else can replace the screen :(
Wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy a new one?
Maybe worth remembering this when you write up the review, and go for a better quality brand next time ?

This all sounds very bad to me, I'm unimpressed. Suggests that if it were under warranty all they would manage is a replacement. But they must have new screens somewhere in the world to make more e-readers.
i believe excelsior's answer - bring it to some wee huckster shop.

Ive said exactly this - how can they manufacture a tablet that cannot be repaired and they just said that's what they do. I would NEVER have bought it had I known that!
